This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time Mechatronics Student Technical Assistant position at the Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Institute (ATAMI) at Oregon State University (OSU).
The commitment expectation is a minimum 12 and maximum of 20-24 hours per week – the 24 hours per week option starts 7/1/23, and up to 40 hours per week is available during school breaks and term(s) not enrolled in classes. The appointment is expected to end once 200 hours of work is completed. The anticipated hourly pay rate will be $15.00. Position Duties The primary responsibilities of the position are to apply mechanical, electrical and software engineering techniques to implement creative monitoring and control systems Design, test, document and implement smart technologies like PLC-based automated systems and applications for laboratory systems Work with Engineers and Chemists to create a 'smart lab' for educational and innovative chemical processing applications Evaluate applicable technologies, propose achievable solutions, and then design and initiate the layout and construction of first prototypes Minimum Qualifications Full Employment Eligibility Requirements can be found here:

Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term* Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term* International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered "full-time" by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center. Additional Required Qualifications Must be in the LBCC Mechatronics program Experience with Microsoft Office applications – especially Word and Excel Experience designing and implementing automation and control systems Interest in and an aptitude for organizing a wide variety of sequential representations of processes (process flow) Interest in scientific instrumentation, process equipment and process control Actual work site is located off-campus and will require reliable transportation Preferred (Special) Qualifications A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity Working Conditions / Work Schedule Posting Detail Information
