East Kelso Baptist Church of Kelso, Washington is prayerfully seeking a full-time Senior Pastor.
Our church is a small conservative mission church plant from Columbia Heights Baptist Church. After outgrowing the Grange where we held worship in the early years, construction of our current church was completed in 1991. East Kelso Baptist is a loving, caring family church with a wonderful mix of elders and young families with children. As a relatively small church, we do not let our size hold us back from our many ministries and evangelism opportunities.
Our community on the I-5 corridor is a combined community of Longview and Kelso in Cowlitz County. It is a mix of professional and industrial hubs with lumber/paper mills, Port of Longview, and healthcare settings. In addition to public schools, there are two faith based private schools and many homeschool groups and co-ops. There is also a
community college; Lower Columbia College (LCC) with trade school programs, a robust nursing program and connections to Washington State University to offer some Bachelor's and Master's programs. LCC also offers the Running Start program that allows high school students to obtain an Associates degree during high school.
Our church is prayerfully seeking a Senior Pastor who shall purpose to make the priority of his life to love the Lord, our God with all his heart, strength, soul, and mind. He shall purpose to give his personal relationship with the Lord priority over all others and give it the nurture and time needed in prayer and bible study in order to be a contagious agent of God's love. It is from this position that he will be expected to lead, along with the other elders of the church, in seeking God's Will in terms of vision and direction for the church.
Requirements for this position:
1. Must have responded to the Gospel of Jesus Christ and received Him as Lord and Savior.
2. Must have an established pattern (preferably daily) of seeking the Lord through prayer and bible study.
3. Must have an understanding of what it means to be a Elder/Pastor in a Church with fellow Elders and a willingness to fulfill that position in character and service to the Lord and His people. (1 Peter 5:1-9, 1 Tim 1:6-9)
4. Must be both Licensed and Ordained.
5. Must be studied and able to preach and teach the Bible. (A Master of Divinity preferred)
6. Must be able to evangelize and equip the Saints to do so also. 7. Must be able to Love and Serve the Family of God.
8. Must submit to a background check.
