Position Highlights The Computing Sciences Researcher (CSR) will work with the PIs to design studies and analyze data collected from our occupational health and safety programs in the mining industry. The CSR will develop and evaluate new technologies for training and risk assessment, creating databases, performing statistical programming, and developing models that identify risks and potential mitigations. The CSR will also assist the PIs in creating reports and visualizations to disseminate findings to sponsors and in industry and academic venues.

Duties & Responsibilities Tool and Model Development
Assist in the development and assessment of new computing technologies and systems to support S&H training research, including graphically intensive simulations. Support the design and assessment of analytical tools to aid in new S&H research initiatives. Provide assistance to investigators in exploring basic data analytics, computer systems, and introductory predictive AI initiatives for occupational S&H risk assessment and mitigation. Participate in user study activities under the guidance of Principal Investigators (PIs), helping with implementation and data collection. Program Evaluation
Works with investigators and industry partners to gather and analyze data from occupational safety and health (S&H) initiatives in the mining industry. Uses statistical tools, including R Studio and Python, as well as simulation tools, including Unity and C#, to analyze and interpret statistical patterns of human performance related to occupational S&H in mining. Reporting and Publishing
Creates reports and scientific visualizations of key performance indicators for S&H. Assists with publishing and outreach activities for industry and academic venues in mining and occupational health and safety. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of statistical programming and visualization tools, including R Studio and Python. Knowledge of prototyping and modeling with Figma, Tableau, and other industry standard applications. Knowledge of gamification and simulation using Unity/C#. Ability to design technology evaluation studies. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required. One year of relevant work experience required. Preferred Qualifications Experience in occupational health and safety research, particularly in the mining industry. Experience with Figma and other prototyping tools. Experience with Unity, C#, Python, and R. FLSA Exempt
