Introduction The Department of Health Services (DHS), Central Wisconsin Center (CWC) is recruiting for a Stores Purchasing Agent. CWC provides short-term and long-term residential services to assist people living with intellectual disabilities in acquiring the personal skills needed to reach their highest potential. CWC is located at 317 Knutson Drive on the North side of Madison. CWC also has a 24/7 fitness center, free parking, and is on the Madison Metro bus route.

Position Summary As the Purchasing Agent, you will perform a variety of technical and miscellaneous purchasing functions and be responsible for inputting purchasing data into the electronic Procurement System for CWC and Mendota Mental Health Institute (MMHI). You will be responsible for interpreting State statutes and consulting on purchasing rules, regulations, policies and dispute resolution processes. You will perform simplified and sealed bids and endorse all procurement rules and purchase all the inventory items in the warehouse and logistics business area for CWC and MMHI.
Salary Information The starting salary is between $29.00 and $31.00 per hour (approximately between $60,320 and $64,480 per year), depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required.
Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is classified as a Purchasing Agent-Objective and is in pay schedule and range 07/04.
Job Details All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.
All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by CWC or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to their start date.
DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.
This position requires the ability to drive a State vehicle. In order to become authorized to drive a State vehicle, you must meet the requirements of the State of Wisconsin Fleet Vehicle Policy, which are:
Must have a valid driver's license; Must have minimum of two years licensed driving experience; Must be 18 years of age. Additionally, your driving record MUST NOT reflect any of the following conditions:
Three or more moving violations and/or at-fault accidents in the past two years; Operating While Intoxicated (OWI)/Driving Under the Influence (DUI) citation within the past 12 months; Suspension or revocation of driver's license. Qualifications Minimally qualified applicants will have all of the following:
Experience with general inventory control duties such as purchasing, tracking inventory usage, stocking supplies, etc. Experience using computer programs and software such as Microsoft Office Suite for data entry, correspondence, report production, and/or document creation. Well-qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following:
Experience in government purchasing using mandatory and statewide contracts. Experience purchasing in a long-term care or health care facility. Experience using the WI STAR Financial System.
