Job Purposes:: A postdoctoral position is available in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine. The successful candidates will lead the research projects to investigate the molecular mechanism of the DNA replication checkpoint primarily in fission yeast, an established model organism for studying the cellular mechanisms that are conserved in humans. Our research utilizes a variety of techniques, including yeast genetics, protein biochemistry, cell and molecular biology, and genetic analysis. The ideal candidates will be highly motivated to both support ongoing research in the lab, and to work independently.
Required Qualifications:: A PhD or equivalent international degree in an area of biological sciences, evidence of previous research productivity and publications.
Preferred Qualifications:: Research experiences in protein biochemistry, yeast genetics, or cell and molecular biology . Essential Functions and percent of time:: 85% Research Activities – design and conduct experiments under the broad direction of Dr. Xu.
5% Mentoring graduate and undergraduate students. 5% Data analysis, presentation, and communication. – Analyze, organize, present, and communicate research findings to supervisor and other laboratory personnel; apply for postdoctoral fellowships.
5% Lab management – order supplies, assist in maintaining and organizing the lab.
