Description: Tulane University School of Medicine, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner to join our Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) providers at an in-patient rehabilitation unit. The NP works in collaboration with, and is an integral member of, a multi-disciplinary health care team. The NP will engage in direct patient care activities within their established professional scope of practice and established by/under the collaborating/supervising physician for medical/clinical responsibilities in the in-patient setting. The NP will be responsible for patient care activities, but not limited to assessment, evaluation, diagnostic determination, on-going treatment and clinical management, as well as collaboration with the physician, inter-disciplinary team and some education for staff, patient, and caregivers. The NP will participate in performance improvement, along with continuing self-education to enhance skills and improve the delivery of care, incorporating PM&R principles and practice guidelines. The selected candidate will be joining an outstanding academic group of clinician-educators. This is a clinical track position, and academic rank will be determined commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
Qualifications: Valid Nurse Practitioner license in Louisiana. Master's degree in nursing from an accredited program with certification as a Nurse Practitioner in the relevant specialty area. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
