POSITION DESCRIPTION & OVERVIEW Title : Kitchen Manager
Reports To : Director of Site-Based Housing
Schedule : Mon-Fri, 8am-4pm, Day time flexible, Occasional nights & Weekends
Compensation : $50,000 - $60,000
Job Classification : Hourly, Non-exempt, 40 Hours/Week
Union Representation : This position is not a union represented position
The Kitchen Manager is responsible for all kitchen functions, including but not limited to food purchasing, receiving, preparation and maintenance of quality standards, safety, sanitation and cleanliness. The Kitchen Manager is responsible for the training of employees in connection to receiving, preparation and maintenance of quality standards, safety, sanitation and cleanliness. Additional duties include, but are not limited to:
Ensure that all food and products are consistently prepared and served according to the Food Centre's recipes, portioning, cooking and serving standards. Control food cost and usage by following proper requisition of products from storage areas, product storage procedures, standard recipes and waste control procedures including checking and maintaining proper food holding and refrigeration temperature control points. Fill in where needed to ensure guest service standards and efficient operations. Plan and distribute the weekly menu on or before Friday of the previous week. Ensure that all equipment is kept clean and kept in excellent working condition through personal inspection and by following the kitchen's preventative maintenance procedures. Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers, clients, volunteers, community service workers and vendors. Provide orientation of company and department rules, policies and procedures. Oversee training of new kitchen employees, volunteers and community service workers. Personal grooming and appearance standards are met regarding cleanliness, sanitation and hygiene. Adhere to Health and Safety policies and regulations. Have a good knowledge on health and safety, hygiene, equal opportunities, HIPAA and any other legislation. Able to handle pressure calmly and professionally. Attends all scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions for improvement. Schedule and facilitate monthly staff meetings with Kitchen Staff. Carry out any other duties as required by management. QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCTION & EXPERIENCE: 2+ years of proven work experience as a Chef or Cook. 2+ years of supervisory experience of staff in a restaurant, cafeteria or similar environment. 2+ years of inventory management experience Certified Food Manager with the MN Department of Health. Passion for cooking and producing high quality food. Excellent time management skills. Ability to remain calm and undertake various tasks. Hands-on experience with various kitchen equipment. Up-to-date knowledge of cooking techniques and recipes. Must be able to pass a background check with the Department of Human Services Ability to remain compliant with the MN Department of Health Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills Must possess basic computer skills Ability to lift 10-40lbs, 50+lbs with team lift AGENCY COVID-19 REQUIREMENTS Agate Housing and Services maintains a COVID-19 preparedness plan that mitigates the transmission and spread of COVID-19. Programs also maintain practices to ensure the safety of staff, clients, residents, and community members.
