Department: Fitting/Welding/AssemblyReports To: Fitting/Assembly ManagerPosition Classification: Hourly/Non-ExemptGeneral Description: The Fitter is responsible for reading blueprints to fabricate, lay out, position, align,fit parts of metal products as well as weld to craft components from raw material.Primary Job Responsibilities:? Extensive knowledge of reading blueprints? Fabricates, lays out, positions, aligns, and fits parts of metal products? Uses company established welding procedures to craft components from rawmaterial based on blueprints? Operates forklift to move, lift, and/or position material? Operates jib crane? Receives components from processing department? Inspects and compares received components to provided blueprints foraccuracy and completeness? Lays out and examines workpieces to ensure print specifications are adheredto? Fits and tacks (welds) the parts together into a subassembly? Uses squares and tape measures to verify completed parts conform tospecificationsOther Job Responsibilities:? Maintain a clean and save work environment? Cleans and organizes common areas such as restroom and breakroom asneeded? Cross trains and participates in other job functions of the fabrication shop asneeded? Other duties as assigned? May be asked to partake in any of the current shop positions at TPI atanytime due to workload; the positions are as follows:o Assembler/Shipper – Assembles final product and loads onto truckso Fitter – Crafts components from raw materialo Laborer – Provides support to the shop and to other positions asneededo Painter/Sandblaster – Paints sandblasted material and removes rustfrom fabricated materialo Processor – Operates one of the following machines: Angle/BeamLine, Burn Table, Press Brake, or Sawo Quality Control – Ensures all pieces are fabricated to exact blueprintrequirementso Welder – Welds fitted material385 Kent RoadBowdon, Georgia 30108Qualifications:? Complete understanding of operating equipment to include but not limited toforklifts? 12 months experience in operating, loading, or unloading equipment? Strong verbal communication skillsSkills and Abilities:? Meticulous attention to detail? Ability to visually detect damages and defects on tooling? Ability to preform task such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing,and pushing/pulling for up to 12 hours a day? Ability to push, pull and lift items up to 50 pounds on an occasional basisWork Environment:? Work in all types of weather sometimes temperatures above 100 degrees andbelow 32 degrees? Willing and able to work in a hot, humid, cold, and noisy environment? Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations,to include wearing safety equipment
