We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Estimator to join our team. The Construction Estimator will be responsible for bidding and estimating construction projects with scopes of work including earthwork, excavation, grading, underground utilities, and site concrete. Responsibilities:
Estimation: Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including earthwork, excavation, grading, underground utilities, and site concrete.
Project Analysis: Review project plans, specifications, and other documents to understand the scope and requirements of each project.
Quantity Takeoffs: Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and material pricing to accurately determine project costs.
Vendor Management: Solicit bids and proposals from vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers, evaluating them for competitiveness and alignment with project requirements.
Cost Analysis: Conduct thorough cost analysis, considering factors such as labor rates, material costs, equipment rentals, and overhead expenses.
Value Engineering: Identify value engineering opportunities and alternative solutions to optimize project costs while maintaining quality and performance standards.
Bid Preparation: Prepare comprehensive bids and proposals that meet project deadlines and client requirements.
Client Communication: Collaborate with clients, engineers, and project managers to clarify project requirements, address concerns, and ensure client satisfaction.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of all estimate-related activities, including contracts, change orders, progress reports, and other relevant records.
Continuous Improvement: Stay informed about industry trends, cost factors, and best practices in construction estimation, and incorporate this knowledge into estimation processes.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred). 3 years of experience in construction estimation, with a focus on earthwork, excavation, grading, underground utilities, and site concrete. Strong understanding of construction plans, specifications, and industry standards related to the specified scopes of work. Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail in estimating and cost analysis. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and estimation software.
