Job Summary:
We are seeking a Deputy Director of Communications to join our esteemed institution located in Washington, DC. In this hybrid role, you'll have the opportunity to work both onsite and remotely, contributing to our dynamic team.
Responsibilities:
Lead the planning, oversight, production, and execution of various communications initiatives, encompassing website management, media relations, social media engagement, publications, grant writing, presentations, and multimedia endeavors.
Ensure all departments have access to pertinent messaging, while crafting compelling content tailored to diverse audience groups.
Develop comprehensive communication strategies and corresponding tactics to effectively convey our messages.
Enhance both internal and external communication channels, managing internal memos, newsletters, and external communication flows.
Generate content for press releases, website updates, infographics, blogs, and newsletters, coordinating with relevant stakeholders for information and ensuring consistency in tone and style.
Coordinate events and press conferences, and engage with media for interviews and statements as necessary.
Collaborate with marketing professionals to produce impactful copy for advertisements and articles.
Drive media outreach and social media content creation, aligning with overarching communication strategies.
Stay abreast of company policies, principles, and industry developments to inform communication efforts.
Evaluate the effectiveness of communication campaigns and cultivate relationships with journalists and external stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
Over 8 years of experience in communications, public relations, or media relations.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a keen understanding of crafting persuasive messages for diverse audiences.
Proficiency in digital communication tools and platforms, including social media management and content management systems.
Strong organizational abilities and the capacity to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Flexibility to accommodate occasional evening and weekend work requirements.
