REPORTS TO: Coordinator - Data Coach DEPARTMENT NAME: Department of Research, Assessment and Evaluation JOB SUMMARY (2-3 sentences): Provides support to instructional coaches and other key school staff in the interpretation and use of student data. Works collaboratively with assigned schools to assist with data reporting, school improvement planning, and professional development in the areas of data technology and test development, administration and utilization. PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS: List, in the order of time spent, the essential tasks performed by the position. Employees may be assigned additional duties by management as required.
Job Responsibility 1:
Utilizes data warehouse and student management system and trains school level personnel to access available reports within assigned schools and at the district level.
Job Responsibility 2:
Supports school and central office staff in the use of state/district assessments, reporting systems and other data as it becomes available.
Job Responsibility 3:
Collaborates and assists in planning and training of instructional coaches and academy teams in data resources.
Job Responsibility 4:
Works with school leadership, grade level teams, Academies, and data teams to develop methods for tracking student progress on the school and cluster level.
Job Responsibility 5:
Facilitates and models the reporting of aggregated and disaggregated student data for school staff.
Job Responsibility 6:
Provides support and works collaboratively with instructional coaches to facilitate effective data discussions and professional learning communities.
Job Responsibility 7:
Assists school leadership teams in setting appropriate evaluation measures and targets for the school improvement plan. Assists school test coordinators in training staff on proper test administration and return practices.
Job Responsibility 8:
Prepares for professional development, meetings, data conversations, and presentations through collection, analysis, and effective display of information. Attends training and other district meetings. Mentors others by advising, counseling, or guiding them regarding problems that may be resolved by scientific or other professional principles. ASSETS RESPONSIBILITY : " Assets Responsibility" refers to the responsibility for achieving economies or preventing loss within the organization.
Requires some responsibility for achieving minor economies and/or preventing minor losses through the handling of or accounting for materials, supplies, or small amounts of money. MATHEMATICAL REQUIREMENTS : " Mathematics" deals with quantities, magnitudes, and forms and their relationships and attributes by the use of numbers and symbols.
Uses practical application of fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions, measurements, or logarithms; may use algebraic solutions of equations and equalities, deductive geometry, and/or descriptive statistics. COMMUNICATIONS REQUIEMENTS : " Communications" involves the ability to read, write, and speak.
Reads journals and manuals; composes specialized reports and business letters using proper format and grammar; speaks to groups of coworkers and people outside the organization. COMPLEXITY OF WORK : " Complexity of Work" addresses the analysis, initiative, ingenuity, creativity, and concentration required by the position and the presence of any unusual pressures.
Performs coordinating work involving guidelines and rules with constant problem solving; requires continuous, close attention for accurate results or frequent exposure to unusual pressure. IMPACT OF DECISIONS : " Impact of Decisions" refers to consequences such as damage to property, loss of data or property, exposure of the organization to legal liability, or injury or death to individuals.
Makes decisions with moderate impact - affects those in work unit. EQUIPMENT USAGE : "Equipment Usage" refers to inanimate objects such as substances, materials, machines, tools, equipment, work aids, or products. A thing is tangible and has shape, form, and other physical characteristics.
Handles machines, tools, equipment, or work aids involving some latitude for judgment regarding attainment of standard or in selecting appropriate items, such as backhoes, saws, and drills. SAFETY OF OTHERS : " Safety of Others" refers to the responsibility for other people's safety, either inherent in the job or to assure the safety of the general public.
Requires no responsibility for the safety and health of others. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS : " Education Requirements" refers to job specific training and education required for entry into the position.
Bachelor's degree in a related field of study. LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED : " Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations" refers to professional, state, or federal licenses, certifications, or registrations required to enter the position.
Valid Tennessee teaching certificate. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS : " Experience Requirements" refers to the amount of work experience that is required for entry into the position that would result in reasonable expectation that the person can perform the tasks required by the position.
Minimum of three years' directly related experience of improving student achievement in the classroom using a rich array of research-based instructional approaches, resources and technologies. Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel and have knowledge and skills in analyzing and using data for instructional decision making.

Requires light to medium work involving standing or walking most of the time, exerting up to 20 pounds of force on a regular basis, and considerable skill, adeptness, and speed in the use of the fingers, hands, or limbs in tasks involving close tolerances. UNAVOIDABLE HAZARDS : " Unavoidable Hazards" refers to unusual conditions in the work environment that may cause illness or injury.
