JOB TITLE: Assistant Controller DEPARTMENT: Accounting FLSA STATUS: Exempt REPORTS TO: Controller Summary: Reporting to the Controller, the incumbent supports the total accounting function for the company by performing and overseeing the higher-level accounting duties such as financial reporting and auditing financial statements, as well as carrying out more routine functions such as processing accounts receivable/payable transactions. In addition, the job holder leads the daily execution of the Finance Department and will be tasked with developing the staff with the Controller's direction.
Supervisory Responsibility: The Assistant Controller assists with supervising the staff accountant(s), accounting specialist(s).
Essential Job Functions: Leadership, Management and Accountability (LMA) Enables cash flow Recordkeeping, reporting and administration Receivables and payables processing Auditing and evaluation Required Competencies: Champion Seneca Tank Core Values Serve the Customer Above All Else Do What You Say You Will Do Understand the Value of Reputation Whatever You Do, Do It Well Put in More Than You Take Out Ability to read, write, speak and understand English, and communicate effectively both orally and in writing Excellent knowledge of accounting processes (e.g., budgeting and financial closure) and GAAP Ability to analyze and interpret technical procedures and governmental regulations and deal with ambiguity Advanced Excel spreadsheet skills including those required for using pivot tables, v look-ups, sum-if's, spreadsheet linking, and nesting functions, and to construct financial models/reports Strong research and analytical skills, and attention to detail Ability to handle competing priorities and meet deadlines Good organizational skills Strong research skills Solid leadership and supervisory skills Physical Demands: Must be able to physically perform medium work: exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, 20 lbs. of force frequently, and 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects Visual requirements include clarity of vision at a distance of more than 20 inches and less than 20 feet without correction, color vision, depth perception and field of vision Must be able to perform the following physical activities: Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions Safety: Follow policies found in Seneca Tank's Safety Manual.
Special Conditions of Employment: Upon receiving a conditional offer of employment, must pass a pre-employment physical and drug-screen.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, and or two (2) years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment preferred with a solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), ERP software experience, and advanced Excel spreadsheet skills.
