Accounting Technician

Job summary
Looking for an Accounting Technician to join our Payment Audit teamResponsibilities include approving invoices, auditing documentation, and assisting staffExperience with SAP or other accounting systems and knowledge of government accounting methods preferred

Responsibilities
• Approve invoices related to NCDOT corporate credit card (P-card) invoices• Audit scanned backup documentation to ensure correct information is attached and entered into accounting system• Assist staff with questions/problems processing documents• Regularly communicate with field staff to ensure invoices meet NCDOT policies/procedures• Mail and batch checks monthly and assist with statements distribution• Serve as backup to other team members on Payment Audit team• Complete special projects
Requirements
• Experience with SAP or other accounting systems• Knowledge of accounting methods, procedures, and practices, specifically auditing experience in Accounts Payable• Computer experience with Microsoft Office, especially Excel• Knowledge of government accounting methods, procedures, and financial practices• Experience understanding, interpreting, and applying laws related to financial records• Associate degree in Accounting; or High School/GED diploma, and 2+ years of accounting experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
Key Skills Needed
