TOURNAMENTS MANAGER - Sand Mountain Park & Amphitheater Sports Facilities Management, LLC LOCATION: Albertville, AL DEPARTMENT: OPERATIONS REPORTS TO: ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER STATUS: FULL-TIME (EXEMPT) ABOUT THE COMPANY: Sand Mountain Park & Amphitheater is a premier sport, recreation and entertainment destination focused on improving the health and economic vitality of Albertville, AL. POSITION SUMMARY: The Tournaments Manager is responsible for booking, creating and executing sports tournaments, assist with maximizing sports surface utilization, and establish and cultivate relationships with event rights holders. The Tournaments Manager will also work closely with all other departments to effectively manage the venue-wide schedule.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING: Directly align with the Sand Mountain Park Mission Statement and Core Values Establish and cultivate effective relationships with event rights holders Exhibit effective contract negotiation strategies that results in successful sports tournaments Accurately enter all tournament information into facility management software Schedule the event coordinator role according to the tournament schedules Effectively coordinates with the Operations Team to ensure event details are communicated and we are always guest-ready for all events Manage all tournament pricing structures according to our rental rates and event agreement stipulations Assist with client and/or customer complaints by having a professional and service-focused approach Help enforce sports surface/facility rules in a professional manner with a service-focused approach Constantly evaluates and improves all service standards for programming and tournaments Help ensure all tournaments adhere to venue safety and security standards Serve as MOD during scheduled shifts Other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations, Assistant General Manager and/or General Manager THE IDEAL CANDIDATE HAS: Experience in youth and amateur sports as a consumer and a tournament organizer Proven success in achieving tournament revenue and budget goals Experience in booking local, regional, and national level sports tournaments Proven experience scheduling multiple sporting events at one location at the same time Experience and success in customer service, leadership, and training Action-oriented personality with a 'get it done' attitude and proficiency for efficiency Proven ability to evaluate team member performance based on established KPI's MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in recreation, sports management or related field with 4-6 years appropriate experience required Must have excellent interpersonal, problem solving and negotiating skills Must be a team player Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills Must have excellent computer skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. Must be able to work a flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends, holidays, and long hours) Must possess current CPR/AED/First Aid certification or must be willing to obtain them within 90 days of hire WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to lift 50 pounds waist high May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time whether indoors or outdoors, and squat, stoop or bend Will be required to operate a computer Facility has intermittent noise Job Posted by ApplicantPro
