We are seeking a career minded, Tool and Die Maker Apprentice. The right candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude and excellent math skills. This is a long term opportunity. We are seeking someone who would like to learn and grow within the company.
A tool and die maker apprentice learns to operate various machine tools and equipment to make and repair special tools, dies, jigs and fixtures. Tool and die makers analyze specifications, lay out metal stock, set up and operate machines, and fit and assemble parts to make and repair dies, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures (devices that hold metal while it is shaped, stamped or drilled), gauges, and machinist's hand tools. Die makers construct metal forms (dies) to shape metal in stamping and forging operations.
In related Tool & Die Maker apprenticeship instruction, students will learn basic theory in machining, blueprint reading, and metallurgy in addition to advanced theory in stamping, blanking, jigs and fixtures. Computer-assisted machining and die design are also covered.
To be a successful apprentice, you must have mechanical aptitude, be analytical and make sound decisions pertaining to job functions. In addition, you must be able to prioritize multiple tasks effectively and be cooperative and work well in a team environment. Attendance in evening and/or weekend classes is mandatory!
Requirements for consideration:
• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Mechanical aptitude
• Analytical and problem solving skills
• Interest in Robotics, Automotive, engineering, contract manufacturing, etc
• Solid math skills including geometry
• Professional work ethic including dependability, verbal and written communication skills, ability and willingness to learn new things.
• Ability and willingness to work all assigned hours, including overtime and attend evening and/or weekend classes.
