Speech Language Pathologist (SLP)

Full-time

Great opportunity in an acute care and NICU setting!

· Work location: Texas Health Ft. Worth, 1301 Pennsylvania Avenue, Ft. Worth, TX 76104

· Therapy Services

Work hours: Full-time, 40 hours/week, (4) 10-hour shifts/week with Weekend On-Call Requirement – Once a quarter (every 3 months) for 2-hours to do swallowing evaluations; Holidays are minimal with major/minor holiday rotations.

Therapy Services highlights:

· Supporting the 815-bed, Magnet-designated, full-service hospital that has served the Ft. Worth and surrounding community since 1930.

· Supportive team in an acute care trauma hospital – focus on inpatient and in the Neonatal (NICU) Level III.

Here's What You Need

· Master's Degree Speech Language Pathology Required Or Other Post-Baccalaureate degree recognized by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Required

· SLP Experience with mainly NICU and/or Pediatric population as well as adult population, acute care hospital-based, inpatient setting.

· SLP - Speech Language Pathology Texas Speech Language Pathology License Upon Hire Required Or SLP-I - Speech Language Pathology Intern Texas Speech Language Pathology Intern License Upon Hire Required

SLP - Speech Language Pathology Texas Speech Language Pathology License Upon Hire Preferred And

· BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Required.

· Good verbal and written communication skills in English.

· Problem- solving ability; Ability to teach others.

· Time management skills; Good interpersonal and customer service skills, Basic leadership skills.

What You Will Do

· Performs age-appropriate patient assessment and establishes plan of care.

· Uses therapeutic treatment techniques appropriate to patient age and desire for treatment.

· Educates patient and family through instruction, demonstration, and/or appropriate handouts in treatment plan, safety issues, home

programs/self-management and assistive equipment.

· Documents all aspects of assessment, plan of care, and re-certifications in accordance with departmental, TJC, Medicare, and other applicable regulatory guidelines.

· Works in partnership with peers, other disciplines, and departmental personnel

· Focus on swallowing evaluations, help with feeding/eating skills – up to 5 feeds per day in the NICU.
