Job Summary: Carries out manual tasks which contribute to the carrying out of the project for their professional specialty (road, pipelines, rail, etc.) in observance of the safety guidelines.
Main Responsibilities: • Embrace the Company's safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams
• Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies 
• Support the Simon safety culture and other Company pivotal initiatives
• Assist with installation of underground water, sewer, and similar utilities components
• Engage in multiple forms of physical labor necessary for completion of assigned projects, including work in trenches and similar environments
• Assist with locating and ensuring damage to existing underground utilities is avoided during construction
• Read and interpret work plans, including line & grade information
• Read and interpret grading instruments (i.e., rulers, grade rods, carpenter levels, lasers, etc.)
• Safely operate vehicles, tools and equipment, including, but not limited to on-road vehicles, jack-hammers, air compressors, skid plate tampers, shovels, rakes, brooms, and other hand tools
• Assist with minor equipment maintenance and cleaning of construction equipment
• Direct movement of traffic through site, using, signs, hands and flag signals
• Maintain clean and organized working areas
• Work closely with other skilled laborers and craft workers to complete projects
• Complete other duties as assigned
Education: • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Valid drivers' license with ability to maintain a clean driving history required
Skills: • Minimum of one year of utility pipe installation or experience as a laborer preferred
• Ability to understand and adhere to safety procedures, including OSHA trenching and shoring requirements
• Ability to follow proper rigging & lifting procedures for pipe and other materials
• Previous experience in other areas of construction preferred
Physical Requirements: • Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by Company safety guidelines
• Regularly required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
• Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel
• Regularly required to communicate, detect, converse with, discern, convey, express oneself, exchange information (This position frequently communicates with others regarding safety issues/training or must be able to discern equipment location for safety) 
• Regularly required to detect, determine, perceive, identify, recognize, judge, observe, inspect, estimate, assess (must be able to detect moving equipment or must be able to safely inspect work at heights above 10 feet)
• Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear) 
• Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl 
• Standing/working on feet for long periods, and walking across uneven terrain
• Frequent exposure to loud noise 
• Regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles
• Regularly exposed to fuel, oil, and other chemicals
• Required to work varying hours, including nights/weekends, and overnight travel may be required
