Type of Recruitment: External Position Summary:
Performs complex tasks necessary to obtain materials from other libraries, our collections, or commercial suppliers in order to meet the needs of our CMU customers. Performs complex tasks necessary to provide other libraries with material from our library in response to their requests. Works with several specialized library databases and reproducing technologies. Supervise and instruct students as necessary. Assist with other duties when needed. Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED.
Three years of qualifying experience or a combination of education and experience that equates to three years.
Experience with Microsoft Word.
Customer service experience.
Organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
Demonstrated positive interpersonal skills.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to project a positive attitude.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines with accurate results.
Ability to compose, proofread and edit correspondence.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the job. Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge and use of specific software programs and/or systems skills (i.e. Excel, Access, SAP).
Demonstrated ability to design/maintain web pages.
Knowledge and use of Library systems (i.e. OCLC, Clio, ILLiad, etc.).
Knowledge of Interlibrary Loan workflow.
Knowledge of scanning and/or converting documents into electronic formats. Duties & Responsibilities:
Performs multiple daily tasks related to borrowing and lending materials.
Fulfills requests from our users or other libraries using specified databases and software.
Reviews request fulfillment decisions based on copyright compliance.
Troubleshoots fulfillment issues in various software tools and through communication with users.
Monitors fulfillment and updates transactions in multiple library-specific databases.
Troubleshoots and fulfills requests using document delivery processes.
Fulfills requests in course reserves and copyright.
Provides direct user support of all types: interacts with students, faculty, staff and community users to provide assistance, solve problems and responds to questions and complaints.
Communicates with other libraries as needed to resolve problems.
Assists in student supervision responsibilities, which includes hiring, budgeting, scheduling, training, evaluating and developing training material in coordination with Access and Delivery Student Supervisors.
Assists in safety oversight of library users, user compliance with library policies and procedures, and the stewardship of the collections within the Park Library during assigned hours.
Assists with building supervision and opening and closing.
Assists with events and room set-ups.
Conducts special projects and serves on library committees as required.
Works cooperatively and regularly with staff in other Library and University departments.
Participates in continuing education activities to foster professional development and enhance job skills.
Participates in the Access and Delivery Services department which includes attending staff meetings and performing related responsibilities.
Meets regularly with the Coordinator of Access and Delivery Services concerning projects and shared goals, and for problem solving.
Serves as back-up to the Access/User Services Specialist and supervisory/technical staff team members.
