Posting Expires: Open Until Filled Salary: Commensurate with experience General Description and Classification Standards Manages the activities involved in the design, preparation, delivery, and needs assessment of safety training and development programs for assigned department(s). This is a fully seasoned managerial-level position charged with responsibility for significant specialized functions within a department. Position leads a team, typically with intermediate supervisors, or a smaller group of specialized professional employees. Areas of responsibility are typically unique within the department.
Supervision Received Direction received is general and focuses more on long-term and short-term operating objectives, managerial effectiveness, and operating results. This level would be considered 'middle' management.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities These are typical responsibilities for this position and should not be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. May perform other duties as assigned. Provides leadership and direction to activities involved in the design, preparation, delivery, and needs assessment of safety training and development programs for assigned department(s). Collaborates with department management to build a safety program that promotes a culture of safety and the elimination of avoidable accidents, incidents, and injuries. Establishes and monitors key performance indicators and uses data to effectively target improvement efforts. Ensures that corrective actions are identified and implemented to prevent recurrence. Determines department safety training needs, and develops training curricula and evaluation methods. Develops and/or approves training content, methods, and materials and may conduct courses. Creates operating plans, forecasts, and reporting systems, and manages day to day operations. Manages budget preparation, submittal, and administration. Develops organizational structure and selects, develops, and manages team members. Establishes internal processes, and interprets and applies organizational policies. Collaborates in the development, implementation, and maintenance of policy and strategy. Manages purchasing, inventory, equipment maintenance, and other asset-related functions and approves purchase/supply orders, expense accounts. Decision Making May make purchasing or resource allocation decisions within organizational guidelines. Applies organizational policies. May interpret organizational policies and recommend exceptions.
Leadership Provided Has formal supervisory authority over work group to include discipline, performance management, scheduling, training, etc.

Ability to use interactive technology in the instructional design of training courses.
