We are currently seeking an internally motivated and creative Real Estate Development Coordinator. The successful candidate will be the organization's technical lead in matters of real estate and real estate development. They will also support the leadership team to ensure the timely acquisition and development of property in a continual and coordinated effort to meet strategic goals of the organization.
Position Responsibilities: Oversees the HFHKC land acquisition and sales process, ensuring a consistent pipeline of construction-ready properties aligning with the organization's strategic goals, program requirements, and designated timelines as communicated by the leadership team. Procures or gathers data essential for conducting project-oriented due diligence and feasibility analyses before property acquisition. This data includes, but is not limited to, property condition assessments, title work, Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), zoning evaluations, and soil and structural land reports. Regularly collaborates across departments to analyze potential property acquisitions from a financial return on investment (ROI) and project management, infrastructure, and logistics perspective. Assists in facilitating land planning, division, and obtaining public approvals for all HFHKC developments. Collaborates with the Department Director and industry experts to facilitate the development process tailored to the specific needs of each project, engaging architects/designers, engineers, surveyors, and planning consultants, as necessary. Collaborates with third-party builders to ensure that project designs, specifications, approvals, and layouts comply with all HFHKC construction standards and requirements. Collaborates with legal professionals to draft essential documentation supporting the establishment of Homeowner Associations, Site Condominiums, shared use site agreements, and easements. Works in collaboration with the Accounting Department, as well as public officials, and consultants to lead the application and management of public funds for construction and real estate development through local (CDBG, HOME, Brownfield Authority) and state (MSHDA, HOME, MDEQ) awarded grants, as well as development financing mechanisms (Brownfield TIF). Responsibilities include record-keeping and timely reporting to ensure prompt submission of draw requests. Assists the neighborhood engagement team in fostering positive relationships with homeowners and residents in HFHKC focus neighborhoods. Position Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in related field preferred. Minimum three years working in real estate related industries, community development or economic development; related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks for timely project completions. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Hard worker with strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with a broad array of people. Strong organizational skills. Ability to work both independently without close oversight, but also a team player who will productively engage with others at varying levels of seniority.
