With manufacturing, operations and sales, service, and support functions across the globe, your journey at Tennant can take you places you never expected.Tennant Company is currently seeking a Quality Engineer II to support the Operations Department's mission to be the center of operational excellence delivering the highest level of customer satisfaction by focusing on continuous improvement activities and root cause problem solving. In addition, this role is responsible for the continued development, maturation, and implementation of the Minneapolis Plant 1 quality management of ISO 9001.2015.GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Support action items from Tier I, II & III meetingsSupport Lean solutions – waste reduction – share successes with other plants around the globeIdentify, support and lead actions for implementing cost improvements/lean projectsManage projects to develop new technologies & processesCreate & implement standard work to drive consistency and improve productivityLead Continuous Improvement Events (Kaizens)Support New Product Engineering and new product launchesPartner with Manufacturing Engineers to develop capable processes – leverage technology & design improvement where possibleLearn Tennant's H.E.A.T. (Hydraulics, Electrical, Adhesives & Torque) Program for best build practicesMaintain a floor presence to show support for the production team and foster positive working relationshipsConfer with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials or parts and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standardsEstimate staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisionsEnact engineered poke yoke solutions on reoccurring quality issuesEnsure the circulation and implementation of Quality Management System Guidelines within the plant, in compliance with international standards and consistent with related "best practices" and company strategies;Guarantees all the activities required in order to achieve and maintain ISO Certification for the Quality Management System, in accordance with Company strategies;Ensure reports and documentation about quality-related procedures which are implemented in the assigned site/plant;Guarantee a continuous internal auditing in the assigned site/plant for the Quality Management System adopted;Ensure the editing of reports about Quality indicators in the site/plant of his/her area of responsibility and the permanent monitoring of company process in accordance with company strategic plansREQUIRED SKILLS:Strong written and verbal communication skillsBasic CAD / drawing knowledgeAbility to use Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and ProjectStrong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesAbility to communicate and collaborate with peers and leaders to document and improve key processesREQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering OR related field3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment4+ years of experience working in an ISO environment2+ years documenting and leading a site in the establishment of ISO systemsStrong experience in calibrationExperience in Continuous Improvement and Lean manufacturing.Experience using poke yoke thought processes and root cause corrective actionProven track record of innovation, ingenuity, creativity, attention to detail, ownership, integrity, accountability and willingness to seek challenging tasks/projectsSix Sigma Black Belt and Formal Lean Training / Waste Reduction preferredExperience with SAP or similar enterprise resource planning softwareMust be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorshipREQUIRED INTERPERSONAL & BEHAVIORAL SKILLS:Ability to problem-solve.Ability to concentrate on tasks, make decisions and work calmly and effectively in a high-pressure, deadline oriented environment.Willingness to be flexible with time and adjust to a changing work environment.Ability to build and maintain positive relationships, both internally and externally, while maintaining a client service orientation.Ability to use sound judgment and discretion in dealing with highly confidential information.Consistent attendance either onsite or remotely as needed by the business.Ability to take direction and accept supervision.
