Public Safety Dispatcher

Job summary
Under direct supervision is responsible for directing DPS officer response to calls for service, alarms, and RTA alerts.Monitors video management systems, radios calls and telephone communications.Records all department actions for the record.
Job seniority: associate level
Responsibilities
• Receives calls for services and dispatches field units to respond.• Prepares and maintains communications log to include telephone requests, RTA responses, alarm responses and all other communications received and dispatched during shift.• Monitors fire alarm systems, videos management systems and all other technology associated with the DPS telecommunications center.• Types, files input and retrieves in formation on several DPS related systems.• Aides and directs campus community members and guests as required.• Assists command team with retrieval of information, reports, and video.• Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
• Two or more years experience as a dispatcher.• Proven customer service skills.• Ability to work any assigned shift or hours as needed by the department.• Proven ability to work in a stressful environment.

• Ability to communicate information verbally, clearly, and distinctly to the University community using radios, telephones, and other communication devices during routine and emergency situations.• Ability to react calmly during emergency situations.• Ability to extract data from conversations and documents.• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.• Proven interpersonal/human relations skills.
