Position: Project Manager (Data Center Relocation) Location: Hybride - Arlington VA. Contract Term: 24 Months The engagement is for a period 24 months, with an additional 24-36 months for a potential second phase.
Overview: This position will be responsible for overseeing the relocation and migration of up to two data centers to new sites. Specific responsibilities include planning, executing, and managing the entire transition process, from initial planning through implementation to hand-off to operational teams.
Duties include: • Conducts planning, coordination, and tracking of the Data Center migration project. Tasks include:
o Developing a comprehensive project plan, and assigning tasks to the teams
o Creating schedules, timelines, and milestones
o Facilitating and directing multi-disciplinary teams
o Validating current and future requirements and priorities
• Manage a team of subject matter experts, technicians, engineers, analysts, and other staff to ensure timely and budget-conscious project completion.
• Collaborate closely with stakeholders from four different departments.
• Identify and mitigate project risks to ensure adherence to budgets and timelines.
• Establish and implement agile project management processes and methodologies to meet high-quality standards and customer expectations.
• Organize and publish all project-related documentation, including as-built documentation.
• Provide regular written reports, as directed, on project status.
• Brief management at all organizational levels.
• Develop, implement, and maintain effective communication plans using tools like JIRA, MS Teams, and email. This includes documenting meeting minutes, creating presentation materials, providing stakeholder status updates, and maintaining end-user documentation.
• Organizes and publishes all project-related documentation, Including, but not limited to meeting minutes, presentation materials, stakeholder status updates, policies and procedures, and end user documentation.
• Work independently with little guidance or oversight after the initial learning period.
• Serve as the Change Management Representative for tasks and projects related to the data center relocations.
• Coordinate project closeout activities, including transition to operations and capturing lessons learned.
Experience and Selection Criteria: • BA/BS or equivalent work experience
• 5+ years of technical program or project management experience leading enterprise-wide projects within an agile framework
• 5+ years experience in data center build outs and/or migrations, including working with both technology and facilities staff
• Understanding of all levels of the OSI Network model
• Strong understanding of data center and facility concepts, such as construction, fiberoptic cable, networking, virtualization, and disaster recovery
• 3+ years of managing Cloud system migrations
• Ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences, across all levels of the organization
• Ability to work on location most days, with some hybrid work possible
• BISCI RCDD and or PMP certifications preferred
