As a Maintenance Technician you will repair and maintain physical structures, under supervision, using hand and power tools. Weekly tasks may include painting structures, masonry work, and repairing plumbing fixtures and woodwork. Repairing tools and equipment may be needed. You will install, repair, and maintain electrical systems and fixtures. These repairs will require measuring, cutting, bonding, threading, assembling, and installing electrical conduit. You will install fixtures, motors, and other electrical/mechanical equipment. Be comfortable connecting power cables to equipment and installing grounding leads. Testing electrical equipment for safety reliance and code compliance will be necessary. Basic concrete and macadam surface repairs may be needed for some projects. A willingness to partner with your supervisor and other maintenance technicians to assist with open projects will be needed. You will communicate primarily with BCOC employees in related work or to support their maintenance requests.
The following skills will help you be successful in this role:
Have the knowledge and skills to perform electrical, mechanical, woodworking, and building and grounds maintenance activities. A familiarity with electronics and a sufficient understanding of how to install and maintain gas/diesel dispensing pumps isn't mandatory but would be helpful. Has an eye for detail and a focus on both speed & accuracy. At least one year of experience working around heavy equipment preferred. Must perform work tasks in a manner to promote the health and safety of yourself and others. Must be able to enter/exit confined spaces for the maintenance of mechanical parts. Other duties may be assigned. PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS : While performing the duties of this job you may be exposed to activities near moving mechanical parts, fumes, electrical power sources and outdoor weather conditions. The noise levels in the work environment are moderate to high. A typical shift is based on an 8-hour shift, Monday through Friday. Travel is required for this position, and possible overnight stays will be necessary depending on the job. Therefore, please be aware that your shift may extend past a 40-hour work week. However, overtime is paid, and a company service vehicle is provided for this role. Emergency callouts and scheduling outside normally scheduled hours including weekends, may occur during your rotating weekend on-call shift.
The following qualifications will be needed for this position: Must be at least 18 years old to apply. Valid driver's license and a clean driving record. High School diploma with three to six months related experience and/or training is required. The applicant must be a self-motivated worker, with the ability to problem solve and resolve issues using common sense and basic maintenance functions. The ability to read and analyze technical procedures, governmental regulations and company policies will be necessary. Be able to prepare reports and to communicate clearly and professionally with customers and employees to perform the proper duties. An ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals will be needed to perform some tasks. Be comfortable with technology and possess basic knowledge of word processing and email. Needs to possess average computer skills including knowledge and application of word processing and excel spreadsheets. What is our benefit package?
