Lead Sterile Processing Tech will perform all assigned duties related to the reprocessing of medical equipment and instrumentation, including but not limited to the following tasks: receiving, inspecting, cleaning, machine processing, sorting, assembly, packaging and wrapping, sterilization, process controls, storage and distribution. Duties: Responsible for immediate oversight of the work performed by assigned technicians in reprocessing instruments and equipment. Responsible for restocking department with required supplies for reprocessing, i.e. wrappers, pouches, tape, biological test kits etc., by submitting requisitions to Materials Management according to prescribed schedules. Assigns staff as necessary for daily tasks and redirects staff as work volumes require. Prepares work schedule, posts and distributes as required. Works along with assigned staff on any and all tasks related to reprocessing, inventory control, equipment distribution, process controls, set assembly. Lead Technician(s) must be aware of any changes in the work environment which may require altering manpower, redirecting staff assigned or notifying management. Perform daily volume calculations for load record sheets, collect data to submit every two weeks for productivity report. Respond immediately to phone calls and walk up customers. Coordinates with OR staff, Central Service Manager, Biomedical and Materials Management the tasks required to expedite the repairs to surgical instruments and equipment. Assists Manager in setting up in services and educational experiences for the assigned staff. Maintain Set Assembly Guides, Care & Handling File, vendor reference files and Material Safety Data Sheets. Files remain neat, organized and up to date. Requirements: Education requirements : High school diploma at minimum. Associates or Bachelor's Degree preferred
Work experience requirements: 3 years experience minimum in specific sterile processing techniques in an acute care hospital preferred. Leadership experience preferred.
Required licenses/ certifications/courses CRCST or CSPDT Certification is required through IAHCSMM. Additional two certifications under Sterile Processing through IAHCSMM or equivalent registry is required.
