Laboratory Administrative Director Location Hillsboro, OR : Pay Range: $129,000 to $194,000 DOE Relocation Assistance available up to $15,000
Laboratory Administrative Director assumes responsibility for all clinical and pathology laboratories for the organization; quality improvement and assessment, budgeting and financial management, marketing and staff recruitment, and ensures readiness for accrediting agencies. Works closely with the pathologists on clinical decisions affecting the laboratory. Assumes responsibility for Transportation Team, assuring timely pickup and delivery as well as strong customer service.
Required Education: · Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or other related clinical sciences area or administrative or business degree.
Preferred Education: · Additional course work in business management if clinical degree
· Master's degree
Required Experience: · Minimum 3-5 years' previous experience required in Laboratory field with minimum of two (2) years' management experience.
· Possess minimum of three (3) years' financial management skills including budgeting, both capital and operations, and understanding/interpreting financial statements
Key Responsibilities · Oversee the operations of Clinical and Anatomic Pathology services, Transportation Services, and Clinical and Client Services support staff.
· Ensure compliance with all Federal/CLIA, State, Accreditation agencies to maintain licenses to perform diagnostic testing
· Provide leadership to teams to ensure delivery of safe and quality diagnostic testing in compliance with administrative and technical/clinical policies and procedures
· Prepares annual operational and capital budgets, maintains departmental operations within financial parameters, prepares variance reports as needed.
· In conjunction with Medical Director, recommend new technologies or replacement of existing testing platforms to provide level of appropriate level of service and test menu depth
· Oversee the quality and compliance programs of the departments
· Oversee supervision of staff and associated human resource functions. Assumes responsibility for staffing issues. Participates in the interviewing and hiring process, reviews productivity, reviews and signs timecards, maintains personnel files, oversees counseling processes and coordinates performance appraisal process for laboratories and transportation department. Manages poor performers in a consistent and timely manner.
· Oversee outreach client services program (services, third party interfaces, provider/patient customer service)
· Enhances operations and profitability of the departments, including review/maintenance of CPT coding and competitive pricing of laboratory testing.
· Works with all sections of the laboratory and transportation to develop appropriate QI monitors and ensures periodic QI monitoring, using problem solving processes and tools.
· Performs as liaison between departments and medical staff, hospital departments, hospital administration and community.
· Investigates and responds to customer service issues (patients, physicians, etc.)
Decision making and budget responsibilities: · Uses financial resources to effectively manage staffing.
· Manages PATH and budget effectively.
· Shares information regarding the organization's business direction and goals in a timely and positive manner
Assigned direct reports: · Manager, Clinical Laboratory Services; Admin Coord; Transportation Supervisor; POC Coord; and technical staff
