POSITION SUMMARY The Temp Graphic Designer supports the Senior Manager, Print & Event Marketing and the Marketing Team with the execution of packaging and design of other printed marketing materials for the North American market that adhere to brand standards for both the VTech and LeapFrog brands. This is a 6 month temporary assignment with a targeted start date of mid July.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITES Collaborate with an international production team to localize toy packaging for the US market ensuring the designs follow style guides and meet US strategic goals and market norms. Clear communication and thorough review of all packaging to ensure changes are applied correctly. Take existing packaging and apply new internal and/or licensed style guides. Work with the US Product Development and Marketing teams to ensure accuracy of product information, messaging hierarchy and brand voice. Design store signage, POP graphics, pallets, and other display materials for retail advertising. Conceptualize and design print pieces including magazine ads and gift guides. Assist with the production of printing, mounting, and cutting large-scale signage and packaging mock-ups that are neat and clean. Actively participate in project discussions and offer solutions to challenges. Perform creative brainstorming and mock-up design ideas to illustrate concepts. Work independently and collaboratively and manage time effectively to meet changing deadlines and priorities. Collaborate through communication and teamwork with co-workers, management, and others in a courteous, and professional manner. Exercise sound business judgment. Treat all employees, guests and customers and others affiliated with our business with respect. Conform and abide by all laws, regulations, policies, work procedures, instructions and VTech's Rules of Engagement. Conform with all safety rules and use all appropriate safety equipment. POSITION SKILLS Able to follow and apply established brand guidelines Excellent knowledge of graphic design principles, layout, composition, typography and color theory High attention to detail especially when completing multiple or repetitive tasks Strong written and oral communication skills to communicate with US and international teams Good project management and organizational skills Able to work in a fast-paced environment, juggle multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adjust to changes in schedules and assignments Perform creative brainstorming and mock-up design ideas to illustrate concepts Excellent grasp of proper file set up for print Able to create packaging and signage mock-ups by hand using a wide format printer, spray mount and cutting tools Strong computer skills in the following platforms Adobe Illustrator Adobe Photoshop Adobe Acrobat FTP software Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with Microsoft Office 365 preferred. Experience with Smartsheets is a plus. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree in graphic design or a related field, and 3+ years of progressively responsible experience in Graphics Arts with a focus on print design; or any combination of experience and education that provides the necessary skills, knowledge and ability to perform assigned tasks. A digital portfolio showcasing past design projects WORK ENVIRONMENT Duties are primarily performed in an office environment, although hybrid work is allowed as appropriate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK This is a full-time hybrid position, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Core hours will be set between employee and manager and will be based on business needs. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
TRAVEL Travel is primarily local during the business day and may be expected 5% of the time.
