Responsibilities include ensuring the integrity of the extensive FTTH fiber optic network by performing various duties including confirming facility placement, and completing regular cable, equipment, or pole inspections. Incumbent must have the ability to communicate with contractors performing such work with a basic understanding of industry standards and construction of FTTH fiber optic networks. You will be traveling between Norwalk and Wooster and other designated areas.
What you will do: Perform regular inspections of fiber optic network to confirm production numbers, ensure restoration is completed properly and satisfactorily. Must be able to take concise field notes and be responsible for all field work and staking sheets, permits, ROW, and the final drafting of the field notes when required. Must be able to make recommendations on all findings and needed changes (with supervision from OSP Engineer). Perform other assisting duties as requested. You will be traveling 90% of the time. We have various sites all around Ohio and we plan on going into other states later this year. Qualifications: Must have a valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and minimum state required auto insurance policy. Ability to lift and carry heavy items. Overtime is required. Must be able to travel to our construction sites. Some of the travel may require overnight stays. Must be available for emergency callouts and potential night maintenance. Must have functional knowledge of PC applications and OSP record and/or computer aided drafting systems. 1+ years of Field Technician experience. Previous experience working with fiber preferred but not required. Previous Field Inspector experience preferred but not required. Must understand outside plant design principles, work order procedures, telephone industry standards. Ability to effectively prioritize multiple projects at a time.
