ViaPath is seeking an Evidence Technician to join our National Cellular Forensic Lab (NCFL) branch in Columbia, SC. The position will be based at the customer site. The responsibility of the Evidence Technician will be to provide direct forensic services to customer staff. While in this critical position, you will have the opportunity to utilize your training and skillset to properly manage the intake, tracking and disposal of electronic evidence submitted to the NCFL. The selected candidate will be team oriented, capable of multitasking, and possess excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills. This position will be wokred out of our client's lab in Columbia, SC.
Demonstrate fundamental understanding of departmental and corporate policies, and/or industry best practices surrounding the handling of physical and electronic evidence Properly document and log evidence for tracking and chain of custody purposes being submitted to the NCFL Provide training to lab personnel on the proper handling of evidence within the lab Perform regular inventory audits of property and evidence in the lab Work closely with lab manager to ensure evidence integrity within the lab Manage the checking in and out of evidence to forensic technicians and authorized personnel Facilitate the proper return of evidence to the requestor ensuring proper chain of custody Effectively dispose of, and document, the destruction of electronic items submitted for processing and marked for destruction Submit detailed reports to supervisor's and facility regarding intake, return and disposal activities A Bachelor's Degree is required. A concentration in Criminal Justice or an Intelligence-related field is preferred. At least five (5) years of law enforcement, corrections, or military experience that directly relates to the scope of work Ability to be trained in Cellebrite or MSAB and gain the certification within the first week of work; or have three (3) years of technical cellular device repair experience Other Qualifications: Ability to develop a fundamental understanding of intelligence processes in a correctional environment to include institutional operations and criminal procedures Experience with chain of custody and evidence handling preferred Experience managing and tracking evidence and/or inventory required Excellent verbal and written communication skills Proficient in Microsoft Windows OS and Microsoft Suite Ability to learn ViaPath and third-party software applications within the first six months of hire Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines Strong problem-solving skills with an interest and ability to conduct analysis and report on findings ViaPath, an innovation leader in correctional technology, education solutions that assist in rehabilitating inmates, and payment services solutions for government.?
