Estate Horticulturist

Job Description: St. Supéry Estate Vineyards and Winery has an exciting opportunity for a detailed oriented gardener and horticulturist for our estate gardens. The primary purpose of this role is to support our existing culinary produce program and to maintain the beautiful appearance of the grounds of the Rutherford property.
In addition to the production of herbs and vegetables, St. Supéry has over 1200 heirloom fruit trees at our Dollarhide ranch which we use both in house and share with restaurant partners in the Napa Valley. This position would coordinate with the Vineyard team and the Winery Chef to ensure quality fruit is available and utilized for our culinary programs.
Garden:
•  Maintain and enhance St. Supéry's existing culinary garden seasonal programs with products that are tasty, exciting, unique and useful
•  Assist in our judicious farming programs; ensure our Napa Green protocols are followed.
•  Collaborate with Winery Chef on garden planning
•  Meet weekly with management to communicate progress, seasonal projects etc.
•  Recommendations on aesthetic improvement to grounds. Special projects as assigned by management
•  Provide seasonal tours to guests. Collaborate with the Director of Hospitality to update content to keep current.
•  Responsible for budgeting, management, coordination and materials procurement.
QUALIFICATIONS:
•  Excellent organizational, planning and communication skills
•  Ability to manage multiple projects – prioritize, and manage changing priorities
•  Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision
•  Ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds
•  Computer proficiency – Microsoft Office Suite
•  Valid California Driver's license and must be insurable under St. Supéry's policy
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
•  Lift and/or move 50 pounds
•  Walk on uneven surfaces and in the vineyards (hillsides)
•  Stand, squat, stoop, bend at waist and legs
•  Sit and operate a computer for at least two hour intervals
