FLSA Status: Overall Purpose: Duquesne Light is looking for a talented and motivated Infrastructure Engineer to join our team. The Infrastructure Engineer provides advanced project and production support for infrastructure technologies, such as servers, storage, hypervisor, and operating systems on premise and in the cloud.
Job Responsibilities: Resolves production system issues with Red Hat, Oracle, CentOS, Debian and Ubuntu Linux; VMware ESXi hypervisor; various SAN and NAS platforms including Pure Storage, Dell/EMC Data Domain and Isilon. Provides advanced support for Infrastructure tools such as Red Hat Satellite, Red Hat Identity Management, Acronis and Avamar backup software; Docker (contained) and Kubernetes containerization software; ITRS OP5 (Nagios) Monitoring; and Bash, Ansible, Perl and Python scripts. Install system patches, perform upgrades and application updates to various Linux operating systems, storage systems and virtualization systems. Respond to production incidents within documented service levels. May assist more junior team members. Participate in on-call rotation to provide after-hours support of critical business systems. Interact and communicate with the IT Service Desk and functional IT groups to provide internal customer service with communication of resolutions, strategies, and procedures. Provide a high level of customer service while effectively documenting and communicating processes and improvements of a routine nature. Support projects by attending project meetings to gather and identify IT Infrastructure requirements, then actively participating in the planning, configuration, and implementation of IT Infrastructure. Communicates status updates both written and verbal. Collaboratively automates and streamlines IT Infrastructure processes and procedures. The ideal candidate will possess: Excellent customer service and verbal/written communication skills when corresponding with internal and external clients; Above average time management and organizational skills; Ability to work effectively as a team as well as with minimal supervision; Adapts well to change and maintains a positive, flexible, can-do attitude; Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to devise ways to continuously improve team operations. Supervisory: Does not supervise others.
Education/Experience Requirements: Bachelor's degree in a related discipline such as computer science or information technology. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree. Five (5) years related experience. Scope: Primary focus is on daily deliverables, outputs and reporting. Accountable for managing one's own time and work flow but may be leading projects or project steps. Work is typically complex in nature requiring the incumbent to draw on previous knowledge to perform role. Continues to build knowledge base but has a solid foundation to act independently the majority of the time. Still draws on experts and managers when needed but less frequently. Acts as a resource to less experienced staff on routine issues.
Decision Impact: Problems and issues faced are complex. Draws on past experience on a regular basis to solve problems and take new perspectives on existing solutions. Accountable for direct level of reasoning and decision making.
Hybrid Work Position follows our hybrid work model, with a minimum of two days working in the office and the remaining days working remotely. Reporting location and frequency may be subject to change based on job role and department needs.
