Director of Continuous Improvement Location Henderson, NV (Gibson Springs area) : Position Overview The Director of Continuous Improvement is responsible for leading the Value Improvement Program across DFH and the continuous improvement program in Operations. This role also serves as the leader of DFH's Consortium of Project Managers to ensure consistency and use of best practices across all DFH functions regarding project management.
Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities Provides central coordination of the DFH Value Improvement Program under the sponsorship of the CEO & CFO. Proposes overarching and functional VIP goals in coordination with functional leaders. Tracks and periodically reports on VIP progress and monitors and escalates performance concerns. Leads Consortium of Project Managers to define best practices & tools and ensures their use across project management within DFH. Identifies PM skill development opportunities and recommends development actions for project managers within the Consortium and others engaged in project management. Mentors and trains other project managers. Leads the development of continuous improvement program elements across Operations including partnering with Plant Managers on Manufacturing System development and other Functional Excellence programs. Owns Operations' KPI Dashboard methodology, including automation and partners with Operations leaders to maintain timely and accurate reporting. Provides hands-on project management for major initiatives within Operations as assigned by the COO, leading cross-functional teams to complete assigned projects on time, in accordance with objectives, and with accuracy and efficiency. Outlines the tasks involved in the project and delegates accordingly. Conducts cost analysis, estimating expected costs for assigned projects, if applicable; prepares and implements project budgets. Conducts project risk assessments; reports identified risks to management; provides recommendations for mitigation of risk (including termination of the project if appropriate). Addresses questions, concerns, and/or complaints throughout the project. Communicates and collaborates with commercial and operational stakeholders effectively through all stages of the project or initiative. Provides project management coaching across Operations to ensure appropriate application of best practices and tools. No direct reports, but provides work direction to other VIP functional leaders, Project Managers and project team members. Is flexible and willing to take on new tasks in new or unfamiliar areas. Maintains a positive, can-do attitude and commitment to the DFH Values. Performs other duties as assigned to meet the needs of the business. Some travel may be required to meet the needs of the business. Required Skills Best practices in Project Management including high level of skill in project tracking software (e.g.; MS Project) and Excel. Certified in Project Management by an authoritative body (CPM, Six Sigma Black Belt or higher, etc.). Well versed in various project management methodologies and their appropriate use. Bachelor's degree in a related field; science or engineering degree preferred. At least 7 years of relevant experience working in an FDA regulated area. At least 3 years of relevant experience in complex project management roles. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This is largely a sedentary role; however, the duties require the use of the hands to type and the ability to communicate, requires the ability to move about, some duties may occasionally require the ability to lift to 10lbs.
