What You'll Be Doing:
Drive improvement in the Company's supply base by reducing PPM's, improving process and tooling capability and ensuring timely project completions. Ensure the supply base understands and is in compliance with Company requirements. Understand the end use of the supplied product and generate VA/VE opportunities using lean methods to remove waste. This person reports to the Purchasing Manager and coordinates efforts and communicates regularly with the Quality Assurance Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Others as assigned.
Develop and maintain internal relationships and effective communications with quality, purchasing, and engineering. Verify compliance to control plans and process controls through site audits of existing suppliers. Complete and communicate supplier quality system audit reports. Force corrective actions from audit findings and drives completion of tasks. Facilitate resolution of problems related to misunderstanding or misinterpretation of product specifications and tolerances. Participate in project team meeting to ensure quality and operational procedures and requirements are clearly understood. Coordinate gage repeatability and reliability studies at suppliers as required. Coordinate tooling / process capability studies as required. Provide technical input for strategic sourcing projects, including evaluation of supplier capability, specification review, product implementation and part transition. Ensures that Tier 1 suppliers are using capable Tier 2 suppliers for material and outside processing services. Manage approved cost reduction and performance improvement projects related to VA/VE and supplier manufacturing processes. Work closely with appropriate buyer to manage overall supplier performance. Serve as liaison between Company QA inspection and supplier QA inspection regarding consistency of inspection methods for supplied product. Hold technical discussions with suppliers to identify and implement improvements in products and processes. Solicits and includes cross functional participation from Company. Propagate best practices throughout the supply chain to eliminate waste. Respond with a high sense of urgency to quality issues and escalate / communicate appropriately; analyze supplier process data to assist in solving complex quality problems; and validate effectiveness of CAR root causes through on-site visits to suppliers.
Schedule: This exempt-level role will primarily work eight or more hours per day, five days per week based on business needs and will primarily be day-time hours but may occasionally work or travel nights or weekends as needed.

Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The performance of the position requires exposure to typical office areas and manufacturing areas that require the use of personal protective equipment such as steel toed shoes, safety glasses with side shields and hearing protection. The employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts. Temperature of work area may be affected by outside temperatures and machining. The employee is occasionally exposed to odors, airborne particles, and vibration. The noise level in the manufacturing area is usually loud. Domestic and international travel may be required. Qualifications
Excellent communication skills coupled with strong interpersonal skills. Strong technical skills, including ability to interpret/read drawings, understand GD&T. Ability to effectively use computer programs, including a working knowledge of MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint with ability to learn Company systems. Problem-solving and project management skills, including use/understanding of Gantt Charts, PERT Charts and other project management tools. Bachelor's Degree and five years' experience in relevant fields of supply chain, quality or similar. Three years' experience with metal forming or steel industry. Ability to travel as needed. Travel could be up to 50% at times (including overnight) to customers, suppliers, and other business-related meetings. Travel could be domestic or international. Must possess valid driver's license, be insurable with a good driving record and have ability to drive or ride for extended trips. Must live within commutable distance of Shelbyville, KY and visit other RFC locations as needed. US Person as defined by ITAR/EAR (U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident or any individual who is granted status as a "protected person" under 8 U.S.C.)
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or industrial engineering, Logistics, or Business. Experience with conflict resolution. Knowledge of or experience in roll forming or welding processes.
