Position Summary: The Adult Nonfiction Collection Development Librarian works with branch staff and the collection development team to develop a plan for the selection and maintenance of materials aimed at adults. The person in this position implements procedures which result in a collection that meets the needs of the library's adult users.
Responsibilities :
Develop and maintain a diverse nonfiction collection of materials for adults for all Kenton County Public Library branches in accordance with the collection development policy. Utilize vendor services and professional tools to evaluate and select materials in various physical and digital formats. Respond to collection requests from patrons and staff. Keep informed regarding new titles, popular areas, and upcoming demand. Develop and evaluate standing order lists. Assist acquisitions/cataloging staff with decisions regarding location of materials. Oversee weeding of selection areas in collaboration with branch collection liaisons. Develop bibliographies, bookmarks, and other marketing tools. Evaluate gift books. Work with other members of the Collection Development team to maintain ordering workflow when required (example: vacation coverage). Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: MLS from ALA accredited university preferred. Minimum five years public library experience. Knowledge/experience in adult book selection and collection development. Ability to communicate and work effectively with coworkers. Experience with online library systems, vendor database programs, and other selection tools. Computer skills including Microsoft Office, internet, and experience with electronic databases and resources, and eMedia including eBooks and streaming services. Must be able to lift 30 lbs, and carry up to 10 ft and push/pull a book truck weighting up to 100 lbs. Must be able to bend, stoop, reach, stretch, sit and stand. Job Posted by ApplicantPro
