We aim to hire talented individuals with fresh perspectives who challenge themselves to think differently as we transform Barrick into a leading 21st century company.Position Description:Barrick is looking for a Geologic Assistant to assist primarily in regional data compilation and digitization on Canadian projects during the 2024 field season (mid-May to end of August - flexible for students). Reporting to the District Geologist, the main assignment of the Geological Assistant is to complete detailed data compilation (data acquisition, digitization, and data attribution) on a variety of Canadian projects using GIS software. There may also be opportunities to participate in regional sampling and mapping programs. The candidate will show a commitment to health and safety in the work environment.This role is a temporary position starting in May for a 4-month term. Work will be completed on a regular work week schedule, except in the case of fieldwork, where rotations of up to 21 days on, 10 days off may be possible. Travel expenses to and from project sites and lodging and meals at project sites will be paid for by Barrick.Role and Responsibilities:Compilation, digitization, attribution and QAQC of historical and modern geological data.Acting safely and responsibly in and around field programs and local communities.Assist with the collection of field data by various means. Help the team Geologists map and prospect areas of interest.Obtaining field and bedrock samples under the guidance of the Geologist.Assist with the QAQC of field samples and support sample management and shipment at the project site.Our Ideal Candidate:Pursuing or completion of an undergraduate degree in Geology or Geological Engineering.Pursuit of a post graduate degree in Geology or Geological Engineering an asset.Experience using GIS or database management.
