About this role
Looking to join the world's leading Asset Manager? BlackRock's Global Investment Operations team is hiring! Global Investment Operations is responsible for the entire post-trade lifecycle across all asset classes. Professionals hired into this role will become intimate with all operational flows and operational processes, including architecting operational solutions and managing relationships with portfolio managers and traders, our end clients, brokers, custodian banks, fund accountants, administrators, and more.
Our ideal candidate is someone who has a solid understanding of Middle Office functionality, the full lifecycle of a trade, including an understanding of investment transactions on accounting and performance.
Role Responsibility
The SMA Trade Support & Reconciliation Associate will be responsible for owning the daily support functions of Trade Support, Reconciliation, and Performance & Composite Reporting within the agreed upon SLAs. They will also work in close collaboration with internal & external stakeholders (e.g. Portfolio Managers, Corporate Actions, Data Integrity, Trade Operations, Sponsors) to resolve issues and mitigate risk with a client service mentality. They will collaborate with team members to ensure the business unit is on target to meet and exceed all SLAs while being in a position to support growth and evolving business needs. They will also support the implementation of new system deployments and participate in the development of new enhancements & initiatives, while monitoring and reviewing feedback to ensure new solutions are effective. The Associate will also be expected to synthesize, analyze, and present daily/weekly/monthly metrics to senior management.
Responsibilities:
Take the lead as an intermediary between brokers and sponsors to settle trade inquiries.

Provide strategic support for industry-wide changes that involve proper trade allocations and settlements.

Collaborate with internal and external business partners to resolve breaks and operational mismatches.

Confidently escalate identified risks and work to clear exceptions, with a focus on scalability.

Represent SMA Investment Operations on calls & presentations while clearly articulating the functions that are supported.

Execute on the daily cash & positions reconciliation of SMA accounts across multiple sponsor platforms.

Participate in special projects and work with parallel teams to establish workflows and connectivity with sponsor partners.

Be responsible for identifying procedural improvements and seeing them through to production. This will involve communication to management as well as internal teams.

Willingness to acquire a deep functional understanding of U.S. Wealth Advisory tools & processes while understanding the lifecycle from order management through to performance, attribution, and accounting.

Possess a solutions-oriented mindset and challenge the status quo.

Experience:
1-4 years' experience in brokerage, institutional banking operations, financial reconciliation, or financial services required.

Proven track record of developing deep relationships with internal and external stakeholders such as: front-office personnel, custodians, brokers, clients, etc.

Positive attitude and resilience, with strong problem-solving skills.

Ability to operate/prioritize effectively and adhere to tight deadlines.

Experience within a team environment, specifically with sharing responsibilities.

Strong understanding of accounting & performance principles, P&I, cost-basis, etc.

Proactive communication style, with a service philosophy and risk mitigation mentality.

Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot table, formula driven data scrubbing).

Excellent attention to detail, with strong time management skills.

Experience with InvestCloud APL and Aladdin is a plus.
