Description $$$ 30k sign on bonus for eligible experienced Certified Surgical First Assists ( CSFA – CSA – SA-C or RNFA ) Position is Full Time with call and rotation working at Northwest Medical Center in the Main OR NEW benefits offered for STUDENT LOAN REPAYMENT – up to $10,000! The Surgical First Assist functions as a First Assistant or as an additional assistant to the surgeon, within scope of practice. Provides scrub and/or circulating nurse services within scope or practice in the operating room during surgical procedures and assists surgical team, as needed, in any other capacity.
Assists the surgical team during operative procedures, anticipating needs of surgeon. Functions as assistant to surgeon, as evidenced by retracting tissue and exposing the operating field during operative procedures, providing homeostasis during surgical procedures and assisting in closure of incisions. Some of the duties of a surgical first assist include – Assists in preparing rooms with appropriate instruments, sutures, supplies and equipment. Assists with opening of sterile supplies. Assists in moving, positioning, prepping, and draping patients for surgical procedures.
Position Qualifications/Minimum Requirements Required Education: Successful completion of Accredited Surgical First Assistant ( RNFA , CFA , or CSA ) program required.
OR Experience: Required : Two (2) years OR experience as Surgical Tech, First Assistant or RN.
Preferred: One (1) year First Assistant experience
AND Certification / Licensure Required :
CSFA , CSA * RNFA or SA-C – First Assist certification and American Heart Association ( AHA ) BLS
Preferred: ACLS
*For RNFA unrestricted Arizona RN license, CRNA certification, BLS and ACLS Required
CRNFA to be completed within 9 months of employment.
Credentialing requirements as part of Medical Staff Services application - Must be able to provide documentation of 100 cases / case logs as a first assistant in the past 2 years
Must be able to provide NPI # and current references
Must maintain competency through continuing education as required by the certifying agency
