Job Description and Duties
STATE PARK INTERPRETER I – INLAND EMPIRE DISTRICT / INTERPRETATION & EDUCATION / CALIFORNIA CITRUS STATE HISTORIC PARK
The reporting location for this position is California Citrus State Historic Park in Riverside, CA. This position will work under the direction of State Park Interpreter III.
The State Park Interpreter I will have the unique opportunity to play a vital role in the department's transformation effort to reduce barriers and engage diverse communities. This position will be responsible for developing, implementing and coordinating both internal and external partnership and community engagement and public programming activities necessary to create high-quality and relevant State Park visitor interpretive experiences at initially, California Citrus State Historic Park, and later other district units as assigned. They will have applicable skills in computers, website and social media communications, public presentations and present themselves in a positive manner as the institutional partner and community liaison representing California State Parks' community engagement and public interpretive programs at Inland Empire District. This position will serve as the Relevancy and History Project Lead and work directly with park interpretive and operations staff and University of California faculty and students along with diverse public audiences and constituents.

Working Conditions
50% office environment, 50% in the field Daily and frequent use of personal computer and a variety of office software applications, including web-based and social media communications at a workstation or remotely. Sit in a normal seated position for extended periods of time. Work environment may have moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, elevations, dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. Work in a range of climatic environments from hot, dry areas, coastal beaches, forests, chaparral, and steep terrain. Involves interpersonal interactions with visitors, community organizations, students, academics and staff. Occasional to frequent work outside of office. May be exposed to extreme weather and traffic conditions. Willingness to work on weekends as needed. Attentive to the needs of the public, enthusiastic, and highly motivated.
