Position Summary:This position will lead molecular projects through assay design and development, validation, and sample testing in a timely manner. Performs assays according to SOPs, and support development of new procedures and improvement of existing SOPs. Supervises assigned laboratory staff to ensure efficient organization, quality, development, and execution of project(s). Communicates results effectively to clients and develop lasting relationships to support future work.Essential functions of the job include but are not limited to:Leads the development and implementation of molecular scientific services to support the translational research needs of Precision customersDesigns and performs experiments independently, and accurately analyze and present dataMaintains a high-quality output with the ability to build efficiency into improving productivity metricsCoordinates with management to develop project timelines and deliver on these timelinesTrains and mentors junior staff in molecular techniques, data analysis, collation, and presentationAssists in establishing and improving all procedures and required SOP documentationResponsible for trouble shooting and correcting scientific issues/problemsResponsible for ensuring that all experiments are performed on qualified equipment and that use and maintenance logs are up to date when performing experiments.Maintains and supports safe lab practices and environmentCollaborates with other technical teams in resource sharing and providing technical expertiseMonitors project related expensesServes as a scientific resource to external clients and internal stakeholdersAssists with writing reports and presentations for clients as appropriateSupervises assigned project related laboratory staff to ensure quality, development, and execution of project(s).Other duties as assignedQualifications:Minimum Required:D. in Genomics/Genetics, molecular sciences, or related fields and 6+ years’ relevant laboratory experience ORMaster’s Degree and 10+ years’ in an academic core or industry is requiredOther Required:Experience in molecular biology or genomicsMust have next generation sequencing (NGS) and pcr experience using a variety of technologies, preferably Illumina platform, with key responsibilities in preparation and formulation of unique library prep reagentsAbility to prioritize tasks and function in a team-oriented environmentExcellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skillsMust have the ability to organize and analyze data, as well as prepare reportsExcellent use of judgment and discretion requiredExtended work hours may be occasionally necessary in order to meet business demandsAbility to lift and carry between 1-15 lbs.; Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. overhead with assistance; frequently required to sit, grasp, and use right/left finger dexterity; May be exposed to a cold freezer environment (Freezer temperatures range between -20ºC -196ºC)Must be able to read, write, speak fluently and comprehend the English languagePreferred:A solid understanding of current GLP and/or ISO/CAP/CLIA standardsExperience supervising technical personnel
