Details of the offer

Reviews plans for new construction, alterations, and repairs to ensure compliance with City codes and requirements and national standards. Provides technical advice in the resolution of construction code interpretation and engineering problems.

Education and Experience:
Two years of experience in construction plan review specific to the job assignment or discipline.
Any equivalent combination of education and/or job-related experience that meets the minimum qualifications may be substituted.
Bachelor's Degree Engineering or closely related fields.
Licensing, Certifications and Other Requirements:

Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.

Performs duties and responsibilities commensurate with assigned functional area which may include, but are not limited to, any combination of the following:

Reviews projects for compliance with adopted codes and ordinances.
Manages the review of project construction documents from initial submittal to approval of final plans.
Identifies inadequacies found on construction documents and specifications.
Evaluates the suitability of materials and methods of construction for compliance with construction codes.
Performs computations in the assessment of code compliance.
Participates in the process of reviewing existing codes to resolve issues and accommodate new materials or design concepts.
Responds to questions, submitted by the public, related to construction codes and regulations, engineering standards, and City policies and procedures.
Considers alternative design criteria and solutions to non-conforming plans.
Conducts and attends meetings with developers, owners, architects and engineers.
Participates in site visits to evaluate issues, identify potential problems and suggest corrective measures.

Most work is performed in a City office environment, with occasional work performed outdoors on site moving over rough terrain.
Lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
Exposure to dust, grease, noise, inclement weather, temperature extremes and unpleasant but not hazardous odors.
Travel to/from meetings and various locations.

Years of experience are based on a work schedule of 2,080 hours per year for full-time positions and 1,040 hours per year for part-time positions, and while work experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis, depending upon the job classification, education may not be substituted for work experience.
