The Nurse Navigator for the pediatric non-alcoholic fatty liver disease program will work with the patient, families and members of a multidisciplinary clinical care team to help navigate pediatric NAFLD patients & their families on their way to timely and quality care. The Navigator will assist in identifying & overcoming any barriers to care. This will include, but is not limited to, connecting patients and caregivers to resources and information to make informed decisions, providing education and emotional support, and coordinating team communications. The nurse in this position will support daily operations of Pediatric Fatty Liver Program.
This clinic cares for children with obesity who have developed non-alcoholic fatty liver disease ( NAFLD ). The program was started in 2019 and is the first multidisciplinary clinic in the state of Kentucky set up with a goal to improve health outcomes in children with NAFLD . The program runs together with High BMI clinic.
A successful applicant will be able to work within a large team of providers including a pediatric gastroenterologist, obesity specialist, registered dietician, team leader. The position also includes helping with/performing ultrasound based FibroScan and occasionally other tests offered in the clinic such as Inbody scan and 24h blood pressure monitoring. The nurse navigator will coordinate aspects of patient care such as procedure scheduling, referrals, and medication authorizations. The successful applicant will be ambitious, goal oriented, innovative, and studious individual who is eager to support our dynamic and rapidly growing NAFLD / BMI program. The starting pay for this position was recently adjusted with the minimum annual rate set at $62,400.00/year. All pay rates will be based on the candidate's experience. This position has been identified as supporting UK HealthCare, which receives funding from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services ( CMS ). Therefore, all individuals hired into this position must comply with the federal CMS mandate issued in March of 2022. This mandate requires all new hires to provide proof of COVID -19 vaccination or obtain an approved medical or religious exemption as a condition of employment. Start of employment cannot occur until two weeks after receiving the full COVID -19 vaccination series or upon obtaining an approved exemption.
