The Henderson mine is an underground molybdenum mining operation located approximately 42 miles west of Denver and 10 miles west of Empire. It has been in operation since 1976 and today consists of a large block-cave, underground mining complex feeding a concentrator with a current capacity of approximately 32,000 metric tons per day. It can produce approximately 15 million pounds of molybdenum per year. The Henderson mill is located 15 miles west of the mine, between Dillon and Kremmling.Both sites are surrounded by US Forest Service land of the Arapaho National Forest , making it easy for our employees and their families to enjoy year-round hiking, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing in the area. Monitor mining methods and equipment, with a view to improving performance. Assist in developing and managing mine ventilation. Assist in identifying courses of action to improve safety, operational efficiencies, control production costs and protect the environment. Participate in Engineering feasibility studies to define proper mining methods, equipment selection, mine site facilities, and manpower and production requirements. Ensure maximum productivity and extraction rates by optimizing mining methods, procedures, and equipment. Recommend courses of action designed to eliminate potential production problems and to improve safety, operational efficiency, control production costs and protect the environment. Assist in the preparation of detailed ore reserve estimates. Work with Geologists in exploration and assists in the Engineering phase of developments and operational activities. Perform other duties as required. What You Bring To FreeportBachelor's degree in Mining or Geological Engineeringandthree (3) years of related experience in Engineering,ORMaster's degree in Mining or Geological Engineeringandtwo (2) years of related experience in Engineering Knowledge of the principles and practices of Mining Engineering Ability to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions. Skilled in managing Engineering projects. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions. Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards. Knowledge of one-plus (1+) Underground Mining method (i.e. competent to explain to others the requirements of the mining method familiar to the incumbent and how it differs generally from other mining methods) Preferred QualificationsKnowledge of, or work experience in two (2) or more of the following:Ventilation Mine Planning Scheduling Ground Support Surveying Mining Crew Operations Field experience in underground geomechanical assessments and monitoring systems. What We Offer YouThe estimated annual pay range for this role is currently$84,000-$116,000/Annually.This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors.
