JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Finance Manager will be a key contributor and leader in providing Patz & Hall the tools and support to provide the highest quality wine, while optimizing pricing and enhancing profitability. This is a critical role in both financial planning and analysis and revenue management.
The role will be critical in financial planning & analysis: 1) evaluating short-term and long-term business strategy driving forward data-based decision making, 2) develop month end reporting packages and/or dashboards to drive transparency and results, 3) develop robust forecasting and planning process, 4) financial modeling, valuation, and ad hoc analysis, 5) work closely with external accounting firm to plan monthly close, annual reporting, etc.
The role will also be critical in revenue management: 1) actively manage all domestic and international pricing, pricing policies, and pricing grids by channel, 2) drive pricing consistency across regions, channels, and customers, 3) ensure adherence to pricing policies and application of robust controls and 4) evaluating effectiveness of price changes and new item pricing and 5) conducting competitive monitoring and analysis that identifies pricing opportunities.
Responsibilities:
• Define and manage both long- and short-term financial forecasts and valuations.
• Develop month end reporting and variance analysis and publish or present required month end reports.
• Manage and develop budget and forecast process, developing relationships with business partners, and fostering accurate results.
• Work closely with Sales leadership in annual planning and regular reporting of Sales A&P, distributor local market funds (LMF), Sales SG&A, and pricing management.
• Establish and maintain detailed pricing plans for International and Domestic businesses, including pricing grids by state, by channel, and by customer outlining deal lanes,
distributor allowances (DA), special pricing allowances (PA/SPA), and targeted net list pricing.
• Ensure legal and regulatory compliance of pricing by country, region, state including price posting requirements and lead times to maximize pricing plan impact by market.
• Conduct regular pricing audits by region, state, and customer, managing the exception reports to assess pricing adherence across all states.
• Work with Marketing and Sales to measure the financial impact of increasing price on deal levels below suggested retail price floors.
• Implement VIP 2.0 pricing platform and depletion allowance automation.
• Maintain revenue systems and data sources. Be proficient in all of company's reporting and planning tools.
• Develop subject matter expertise in the laws and regulations of the Top States.
• Maintain, update, and deploy documents of state-specific pricing rules and regulations. Manage a SharePoint that can be accessed and referenced across the organization
to educate rules and legalities that impact pricing executions.
• Manage relationship with outsourced accounting firm.
• Other ad hoc analysis as required to support business objectives.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree with Finance, Accounting, or related field. MBA a plus.
• 5+ years of financial analysis experience, wine, spirits, or beer preferred.
• Complete understanding of the budget and forecast cycles, experience with planning software.
• Complete understanding of financial statements and their interactions.
• Financial statement consolidations experience a plus.
• Pricing, finance, category management or sales planning background.
• Comfort in bringing clarity to ambiguous information.
• Demonstrated history in process improvement.
• Experience with Netsuite, PowerBI and VIP 2.0 preferred. Advanced MS Office skills.
• Self-motivated team player who can work well under pressure and handle multiple priorities within deadlines.
• Requires professional skepticism with ability to move between detail and big picture.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• CPA, CMA a plus.
Physical Requirements
• Working in home office environment as well as in assigned sales territory (primarily traveling by company car). Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
• This position requires travel (approximately 50%), primarily within assigned sales territory.
