40 Gundersen Health System is seeking to add an Investment Associate to assist in generation, screening, pipelining, and researching disruptive new investments. This person will contribute to our commitment to healthcare innovation by participating in key investment activities within our corporate venture capital team, to support strategic business activities. As part of the Business Analysis and Due Diligence team, they will also have a role in analyzing data and/or doing due diligence for some internal initiatives. What You'll Do: Generate and screen top-of-the-funnel investment opportunities
Project manage active deals, build and maintain a robust pipeline, research emerging trends, and regularly meet with founders and investors
Support Managers/Directors/Partners with due diligence and fund operations
Support business diligence and analysis for mergers and acquisitions
Data gathering and analysis for internal and external initiatives to support robust profits for the organization

Job Description: Gundersen Health System has made a commitment to be a leader in healthcare innovation. The Innovation Investment Associate is responsible for helping generate and screen top-of-the-funnel investment opportunities, identifying new investment themes, and supporting Managers/Directors/Partners in due diligence and fund operations. In this position, the Associate will project manage active deals through the investment process, build and maintain a robust pipeline, research emerging trends, and regularly meet with founders and investors.
The Innovation Investment Associate works as part of the corporate venture capital team to invest in disruptive new businesses. The Innovation Investment Associate monitors Gundersen's CVC fund performance ensuring it's alignment with and support of strategic business activities.
Major Responsibilities: 1. Collaborate with clinicians, leaders and others within GHS to identify innovative ideas for improving healthcare. Assist in innovation evaluations and track progress of continued research and/or development activities related to innovation projects.
2. Market research: Perform in-depth research to support new and existing investment thesis/theme development, including producing written research/analysis, sector presentations, white papers, and investment memos.
3. Deal origination and screening: Identify and source strong investment opportunities in key focus sectors, and review a high-volume of inbound pipeline to triage relevant opportunities
4. Due diligence: Support all aspects of the deal review process, including quantitative analysis (e.g., financial modeling and sensitivity analysis), competitor and market scans, customer interviews, and technology reviews.
5. Tool management: Manage internal pipeline and portfolio management tools, and contribute to internal-facing reporting on portfolio health and investment theses/themes. Coordinate with relevant internal teams (e.g., legal, accounting) through deal processes.
6. Portfolio engagement: Work with the Strategic Partnership's Partner to support commercial engagements (e.g., pilots) between portfolio companies and GHS, in addition to utilizing GHS's collective networks to drive value for the portfolio.
7. Networking: Develop relationships with relevant founders, VCs, and corporate executives, along with key internal stakeholders, to support new investment, portfolio management activities and ecosystem development.
8. Marketing: Help extend GHS's reach in key communities by hosting and attending industry events, and producing written and/or audio/video content (e.g., podcasts).
9. Assist with developing and monitoring KPI's and fund performance to ensure leadership position and positive returns.
10. Capture and share insights / learnings from startup community and share with leadership and GHS
11. Advance internal and external promotion for innovation and the CVC fund
12. Prepare and present regular updates
