Job Summary The Board of Dentistry is the independent State agency charged with protecting public health and safety regarding dental services provided in the State. The Board's mission is to promote and protect public health and safety; and ensure that every licensed dental professional practicing in the state meets the requirements for safe, competent and ethical practice.
The Board accomplishes its mission through services that include: establishing the educational and examination and other qualification standards for initial licensure as dentists, dental hygienists, dental therapists, and dental assistants; determining requirements for license renewal, such as professional development (continuing education); accepting, investigating, and resolving complaints regarding licensed dental professionals; tracking compliance of those licensees who are under corrective or disciplinary action of the Board; registering professional firms; disseminating public information; and engaging in policy initiatives to ensure that related statutes and rules that protect the public through regulating dental professions remain relevant.
This position exists to assist the Assistant Director-Practitioner Review with complex case management system used by the Board of Dentistry; to manage the complaint process; conduct inspections directed by the Board's Practitioner Review Committee and Executive Director; assist in providing staff support to the Practitioner Review Committee, Assistant Director-Practitioner Review, Executive Director, and the Board. The incumbent will inform the public and regulated professionals about the provisions of the Minnesota Dental Practice Act and the Board's complaint resolution process.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications To facilitate proper crediting, please ensure that your resume clearly describes your experience in the areas listed and indicates the beginning and ending month and year for each job held. One year of professional experience in one or more of the following areas: analytical writing, case management, legal writing, regulatory compliance or investigation. Experience reviewing and understanding state or federal laws, rules and regulations. Experience analyzing a large volume of data and determining its relevance and importance. Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, OneNote, and Excel). Communication skills: proficient in writing, speaking, and/or reading sufficient to compose correspondence with accurate spelling, grammar and punctuation; and to communicate effectively with co-workers, regulated professionals, legal counsel, and the public. Effective human relations skills sufficient to elicit accurate and detailed information from complainants and licensees. Preferred Qualifications Associate's degree or higher in legal studies, health services administration, public health, dental hygiene, criminal justice, healthcare discipline, or a related field. Working knowledge and understanding of various state and federal regulations that pertain to the classifications of investigative and health care data. Ability to identify and effectively use acceptable dental, medical, and legal resources sufficient to provide additional research data for use by participants in the compliant resolution and investigative process.
