Description
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is seeking an Information Systems Manager for the School of Dentistry. To ensure school systems align with governmental and institutional regulations/policies. To maintain accountability and coordination of all areas of information technology services, including departmental computer support services, data retention systems and institutional systems for which the School of Dentistry has responsibility. To identify, deliver and manage innovative technological solutions in support of the mission of the school. To oversee IT integration, project management efforts, and financial/fiscal responsibilities. To work with UAB IT and other UAB leadership in the management of technology infrastructure, safety and regulatory compliance. To research, develop, plan, test, and implement new functionality and applications for the School of Dentistry.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provides leadership and oversight of all facets of information technology for the School of Dentistry.
2. Plans, organizes and directs all areas of information technology services and works with UAB IT to ensure all IT systems are secure, compliant and follow UAB and industry IT best practices.
3. Troubleshoots issues with existing applications and oversees enhancements as necessary.
4. Researches, develops, plans, tests and implements new system functionality and applications.
5. Works with UAB IT on issues, testing, upgrades and various initiatives including security, email and data storage.
6. Directs all aspects of School of Dentistry IT personnel processes including employee selection and performance management.
7. Collaborates with school executive team regarding all aspect of IT Services to include strategic objectives, finance management, and resource allocation.
8. Serves as a liaison to internal/external departments and entities managing IT-related contractual agreements, technical issues, security processes, and maintenance processes ensuring that adequate documentation is completed in accordance with regulatory compliance.
9. Oversees and manages a tracking system for complaints and their resolution of SOD IT users
10. Oversees and manages onboarding and training of new SOD IT users, and continued training on IT security issues and HIPAA compliance of all users.
11. Direct and manage the SOD's efforts in identifying, acquiring and running the electronic dental record system and other imaging and patient care technologies with which it interfaces.
12. Performs other duties as assigned.
(Annual Salary: $85,600 - $139,100)
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science or a related field and seven (7) years of related experience required. Work experience may substitute for education requirement.
