Progression Plan for Industrial Mechanical Techs:
$20.75 per hour after 18 months at Level I (once Level II requirements are met), eligible for mid-point increase. $22.75 per hour after 18 months at Level II (once Level III requirements are met), eligible for mid-point increase. Eligible for annual 2.5% increase after full progression. Position qualifies for $0.30 hr. Maintenance and Trades differential pay at all levels.

Position Summary & Responsibilities Position Summary: To qualify for an IMT II position the below criteria will need to be met:
Electrical / journeyman's apprenticeship Overhead door inspection and repair / Fire Door Drop Test with Test Document Completion Manlift Training / must attend and obtain certificate / must be able to complete services on manlift Forklift Operators License and Safety Training / receive license / can complete operators' inspections & documents Monthly overhead Crane inspections / Complete training and obtain certificate Environmental Team Training (8-hour course) Must attend and complete with certificate maintenance on each piece of equipment, must be able to demonstrate the above on demand Basic Electrical Safety / The Army Electrical Safety Program DA PAM 385-26 or (NFPA 70e) arc flash Must be able to give worksite safety briefing and hot work permit whenever work involves accessing energized parts. Multi Meter Function and Use / 1000 Voltmeter / Use Step I Criteria Sheet a-d to Verify if Achieved Complex Understanding of 110/208/480 Volt 3phase Circuits / Installation and Repair Demonstrate Lock Out Tag Out Procedure Basic Plumbing Skill Set / Understanding basic plumbing code Basic Maintenance and Preventative Maintenance Supply / Interaction with Supply Personnel and Parts Accountability HVAC/ universal refrigerant license, Heat pumps, Thermal systems. Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following: Industrial Mechanical Systems and Equipment: Inspects, troubleshoots, repairs, operates, services and modifies all types of facility equipment, i.e. abrasive blast systems, as well as components, i.e. compressors, electric motors, pumps, valves and other mechanical parts. This is done in order to ensure large equipment and systems are kept at optimum operational capacity, that malfunctions are identified and repaired with minimal down time, and that maintenance is completed with minimum disruption to production and work schedules
HVAC: Identifies and recognizes the problems affecting equipment, and makes repairs to systems that provide for cooling, heating, filtering, or circulation of air for facilities and equipment. Performs the full range of work involved with troubleshooting and repair, overhaul, maintenance, and servicing of industrial air conditioning units, heat pumps, gas fire boilers, split ventilation systems and air drying systems. Diagnoses and locates malfunctions, disassembles, repairs, replaces, or adjusts thermostats, pressure stats, humidistat, relays, switches, electronic controls and other devices. Bleeds systems and replaces refrigerants and tests for leaks and excessive load conditions.
Building Systems: Tests, inspects and maintains installed electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems for proper operation and compliance with applicable technical orders, manufacturers handbook and local procedures, and safety and environmental regulations. This is done by possessing a working knowledge of a variety of electrical, mechanical and plumbing building systems, methods and tools; skill in repairing piping and pipe fittings, removing sludge, scale and other harmful residue; and the ability to read and understand schematics, technical materials and environmental regulations.
Preventative Maintenance: Performs preventative maintenance tasks in accordance with applicable technical data and local procedures in order to maintain optimal life expectancy of all equipment, systems and individual components. This involves lubricating and repacking valves, lubricating pumps, replacing gaskets and seals, correcting pumping equipment misalignments, cleaning or replacing strainers and filters, servicing water/oil separators and other Real Property Installed Equipment (RPIE), bench checking repairable components and sub-assemblies, testing and calibrating repaired items to ensure adequacy and reliability of repair actions; aligning pulleys, and adjusting drive belts on belt driven equipment.
IMT II Job Responsibilities including the above- Plumbing: Rebuilds circulating pumps, and traps for heating systems. Repairs, replaces and maintains all utility lines above and below grade to include all air, gas, water, storm, and sanitary sewer lines. Recognize and correct pumping equipment misalignments. Has completed training in testing and repair of backflow devices. Has obtained state certification to test and repair backflow devices this certification must be maintained by getting re certified every 3 years. Must be able to document and maintain backflow test documents in an organized manner. All backflows must be tested at least once a year by law
Electrical: Reads and understands electrical schematics. Uses the NEC code book to research proper installation of electrical devices and is competent in locating pertinent information in NEC code book. Can bend and install EMT conduit, installs different types of electrical raceways. Able to remove and install electrical circuit breakers in electric panel boxes. Understand how to properly size wire, conduit and breakers in electrical circuits. Installs cord ends and receptacles or welders both single and three phase. Can use multi meter to trouble shoot and repair equipment both single and three phase. Understands and uses NFPA 70E arc flash safety equipment when required and NO hot work.
Miscellaneous Repairs: Has taken training in the repair and testing of the overhead fire drop doors. Can competently test and document overhead fire doors test, fill out test reports and maintain test report data base. All overhead fire doors must be inspected and tested at least once every year by a competent tester this is an NFPA requirement. Must complete training and demonstrate the ability to inspect and repair overhead cranes at facilities, this is a monthly requirement to have cranes inspected and technician must be trained to do the inspection.
Related Task: Determines dimension, size, quantity, quality, grade, part/model number, cost, source of supply, and availability of parts /Materials required. Maintains all tools of the trade both hand and power. Repairing and replacing tools in appropriate storage area; When not in use. Upon approval, arranges for appropriate skill craft person to make major repairs as needed.
Qualifications Education : Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and at least one year of vocational training Licensing & Certification : Must have a valid Kansas driver's license. Required Qualifications: Physical ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 80 pounds, ability to work at heights up to 100 feet. Incumbent may be required to return to work or work additional hours on occasion. Physical and mental ability to pass a military driver's test. Must be able to acquire a line badge through a favorable report from National Agency Check and a KBI background investigation report. For IMT II (including the above) - Skills in use of tools and in the operation of machines and equipment commonly used in maintenance and repairing of building, and industrial equipment. Knowledge of work hazards and necessary safety precautions. Knowledge of methods, processes and tools used to operate, repair and maintain industrial mechanical systems and equipment such as wastewater systems, boilers, condenser coils, air handlers, air compressors, water pumps and other mechanical and electrical equipment. Knowledge of the methods and practices used in the operations and maintenance of, electronic controls. Ability to interpret equipment technical manuals and building schematics.
