Responsibilities
• Completing inspection on highway construction projects• Maintaining detailed records of project activities• Acting as a liaison with Iowa DOT staff and contractors• Performing mathematical calculations for compliance• Ensuring work is completed according to plans and specifications• Performing basic office administration• Overseeing teammates assigned to projects• Completing routine maintenance of DOT equipment• Operating snow and ice removal equipment• High volume of computer and software use
Requirements
• May be required to obtain testing material certification• Highway maintenance, equipment operation, or construction inspection experience• Valid Commercial Learner's Permit upon hire• Valid Commercial Driver's License with required endorsements• Pre-employment drug screen and ongoing drug and alcohol testing• Post offer, pre-employment physical• Herbicide Applicator certification may be required• Certification for testing materials and operating specialized equipment• Comprehensive bridge inspection course may be required• Travel may be required• Reside within defined driving time from work location• Ability to work up to 16 consecutive hours
