Summary of Job Duties:

The Director of Outreach, Business Incubation, Office of Entrepreneurship and Innovation is a key leadership role in the Office of Entrepreneurship an Innovation, overseeing multiple programs that serve business founders and emerging entrepreneurs. Based at the UA Collaborative in downtown Bentonville, the role operates out of the Greenhouse Incubator and supports teams of individuals – both students and members of the wider Northwest Arkansas community – in the development of innovative new products and services across three industry sectors: outdoor recreation and sports; health care; and software. This position will also play a horizontal leadership role in connecting services and events across OEI's programs and in collaboration with the Sam M. Walton College of Business Department of Strategy, Entrepreneurship, and Venture Innovation (SEVI).

This position will oversee staff supporting the Greenhouse Outdoor Recreation Program, NWA BioDesign Sprints program, Digital Transformation/Web3 program, and industry-agnostic business incubation programs such as the Venture Mentoring Service and Startup Village. The focus across these programs is product development, entrepreneurial development, and business incubation through the vulnerable "idea to launch" stage. The programs will draw on extensive resources and expertise available through OEI's current programming (e.g. workshops, office hour consultations, and pitch competitions) and will build a rich and unique mentor network composed of experienced entrepreneurs and industry professionals with deep experience in each industry sector. The Director will also cultivate partnerships that provide avenues for incubator participants to pilot and test new products and services in real environments, providing a competitive advantage over similar programs run elsewhere.

While the Director role is a full-time staff position, the director may also teach one course per semester in product innovation or related subject in the Department of Strategy, Entrepreneurship, and Venture Innovation in the Sam M. Walton College of Business. An understanding of the focus industries, experience leading and managing teams, product innovation, intellectual property, and entrepreneurship is essential. The Director should be energetic, ambitious, and passionate about the role that entrepreneurs play in healthy economies and vibrant communities.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
