Job Summary The College of Business is seeking a Director of Undergraduate Advising. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE ), 12-month, professional faculty position.
This position supports the primary mission of the University, College of Business (COB), and COB Student Success Center. The individual holding the position serves as the Director and provides oversight for all undergraduate academic advising operations of the College of Business. The Director supervises the Head Advisors and the Administrative Program Assistant of the advising team. The Head Advisors, in turn, supervise all undergraduate COB Academic Advisors, who assist undergraduate students, and the College, with a full range of support including orientation, academic program planning, course selection, registration, experiential learning, and career planning. This support is provided to both students inside and outside the College of Business, primarily working with students pursuing degrees in the areas of business and design through OSU Corvallis, OSU Cascades (located in Bend), and Ecampus.
The Director is also responsible for close collaboration with other University departments regarding academic courses that support degree programs.

The Director works with the COB Student Engagement team in college recruiting efforts and participates in various University and College-sponsored orientations and events.

The Director works with the student information systems and various data files and sources and prepares a wide variety of reports using multiple databases and spreadsheets.

The Director keeps abreast of University and College policies and procedures, and rules and regulations to assist students in meeting academic requirements. This information must then be shared with the advisors and other relevant constituents in the College.

The Director assumes leadership roles that support academic programs and special projects managed by the COB Student Success Center.

The Director also provides leadership for the COB Arthur Stonehill International Exchange Program and study abroad activities for business and design programs. This includes reviewing and making recommendations for revisions to affiliation agreements between COB and partner institutions on a regular basis. The Head Advisor also supervises the work of and decisions made by the Academic Advisors who serve as the Outgoing and Incoming International Exchange Coordinators.

Key Responsibilities 50% ADMINISTRATION AND STRATEGIC PLANNING –
Provide oversight for undergraduate advising and for various undergraduate student services, programs, and processes provided by the advising team of the COB Student Success Center. Such programs and processes include, but are not limited to, graduation audits, COB petitions, International Exchange, notifications/communications to students, Multiple Engineering Cooperative Program (MECOP), course articulation, athlete audits, catalog edits, INTO OSU transitions, orientation, student progress monitoring, and retention. Lead strategic planning processes for the advising team to create a vision, mission, and strategic goals for undergraduate COB academic advising. Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate programmatic changes and new initiatives for the advising team of the COB Student Success Center that work toward accomplishment of strategic goals. Create and implement an assessment plan for undergraduate COB academic advising and provide reports to the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Student Development.

20% MANAGEMENT AND SUPERVISION – Manage advising team personnel of the COB Student Success Center. Directly supervise the Head Advisors and Administrative Program Assistant. Responsible for ensuring proper hiring, training, motivating, and disciplining of office employees. In collaboration with the Head Advisors, develop and execute a comprehensive advisor onboarding, training, and development program for Academic Advisors. Write annual performance evaluations for Head Advisors. Collaborate with Human Resources and the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Student Development regarding efforts to resolve any personnel challenges. Make professional development and goal decisions with employees. Manage the budget for the advising team, to include proposing to the Associate Dean budgets for supplies, subscriptions, professional development, and student employment. Approve professional development requests and other funding requests as the budget allows.

10% COLLEGE INTERNATIONAL EXCHANGE AND STUDY ABROAD PROGRAMMING –
Provide oversight and leadership for the administration of the COB International Exchange and design study abroad programs to include reviewing and negotiating affiliation agreements and advocating for improvements to policies and processes around program costs, fees, and enrollment.

10% COLLABORATION –
Work with other units within the College and across campus which directly affect the advising team of the COB Student Success Center. Such offices include but are not limited to COB Student Engagement, COB Marketing & Communication, COB Career Success Center, OSU International Programs, OSU Admissions, and the Registrar's Office. This also includes serving on various committees to represent the COB advising team, such as COB Undergraduate Program Committee, COB Academic Council, and the OSU Academic Advising Council.

5% ACADEMIC PROGRAM SUPPORT AND SPECIAL PROJECTS –
Program and project assignments will be made by the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Student Development. Assignments will support activities managed by the COB Student Success Center, which may include retention, student support, experiential learning opportunities, curriculum, orientation, recruitment, and tutoring services.

5% PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT –
Engage in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to improve management/leadership skills and programs/projects managed by the COB Student Success Center. Examples include attending workshops, webinars, and conferences, participating on institutional committees and/or outside relevant organizations, and mentorship.

What You Will Need Master's degree from an accredited institution. Five years of full-time, professional experience as a higher education academic advisor. Three or more years of leadership and supervisory experience. Demonstrated professionalism in working with and supporting diverse populations, such as different races, ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations and preferences, abilities, veterans statuses, and socioeconomic levels. A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity. Experience with participating in and/or supporting initiatives related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and advocacy. Strong motivation to promote student success. Strong, professional oral and written communication skills. Evidence of successful collaboration across various units or teams. Ability to successfully manage several tasks and deadlines. Keen attention to detail. Ability to make difficult decisions with reasoned judgment in accordance with institutional policies and standards. Demonstrated ability to work with multiple computer applications and systems, including Microsoft Office Suite, spreadsheets, and databases. Ability to work successfully in environment of ambiguity and change. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a range of others, including senior management, direct subordinates, and students. Incumbents are required to self-report.

What We Would Like You to Have Experience with student information systems and degree auditing systems, such as Banner and DegreeWorks. Five or more years of leadership and supervisory experience. Experience with study abroad program management. Experience with Salesforce CRM. Working Conditions / Work Schedule Generally, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Some evening and weekend work may be required.
